Worst Cover songs -- List them here

I am still trying to recover from Puff Daddy's (P Diddy now) cover of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir.

Badly covering classic songs should carry an automatic sentence of CASTRATION.

List your bad covers list here

I'd have to say the ultimate worst cover song was done by Avril Lavigne. She did System Of A Down's Chop Suey. The song was recorded live, so I suppose that's part of the reason why it was so bad, HOWEVER, it's just horrid. Here's a link to where you can hear it. Be careful, your ears may bleed, ha ha ha.

(it says right click to save, but I actually streamed it)

WOOOOPS, I just realized that the link kicks ya right to their mainpage. If you just go to that link then search for Avril Chop Suey, you'll get to it.

Kinda like "Come with me" but in no way as good as the original, but then again he only used the melody, did not really cover the song.... and I will give him his props on actually having Jimmy play it.

Brittney Spears is the queen of cover killing, first I love rock n roll and now my parogative

Jessica Simpson's Take my breath away is also a sad attempt, she can not even hold the notes to the duration of the original singer.

Limp Biskit covering Faith. My god, that's terrible. The worst band of the decade covering the worst artist of the previous decade.

Tala 10-07-2004 06:38 AM

Kid Rock's "Feel Like Making Love" just about killed me. :helpme

sherie 10-07-2004 06:39 AM

KORN - Cameo's 'Word Up' Not that it's a bad bad cover, it's a shitty song to cover too!

Sheryl Crow - 'Sweet Child O'Mine' Guns N Roses

There are plenty more, I just got up - must work a bit ;)

biglou 10-07-2004 06:40 AM

My buddy Larry and I do a really horrendous cover of "911 is a Joke," in the style of an Irish folk trio. But then, we are trying to be bad.

AnalProbe 10-07-2004 06:43 AM

Bjork singing "the roof is on fire" (Bloodhound gang).

Man, that sounds bad.

William Shatner butchering Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

candyflip 10-07-2004 08:16 AM

The shitty version of The Cure's "Lovesong" by 311

Oh yeah... that and Mr. Tambourine Man!

Avril Lavigne covering Knockin on heavens door sent the crowds into panic.

Adult-biz 10-07-2004 09:55 AM

Being played alot in the UK atm especially on the dance / soul radio stations is a quite appalling version of George Michael`s Careless Whisper performed by a reggae artist.

Absolute rubbish and the crazy thing is that it will probably do quite well when it`s released.

:2 cents:

evildick 10-07-2004 09:56 AM

Snoop Dogg doing a version of Metallica's "Sad But True" was laughably bad.

You beat me to the Britney Spears covers. It was painful to hear HER singing I love rock n roll. Just the thought of it sends shivers up my spine.

pimplink 10-07-2004 10:02 AM

That's typical of P Diddy - he takes songs and makes them worse...

I like that one, it was off their $3 bill album (the only decent one they have). "Behind Blue Eyes" was a disgrace and Fred Durst should indeed be shot in the face for that one.

mikesouth 10-07-2004 10:29 AM

Stairway to Heaven - Dolly Parton
and Steven Tyler should be castrated for allowing Macy Gray (Gay) whatever to butcher Walk This Way

lb_vee 10-07-2004 10:29 AM

Failures cover of Depeche Modes Enjoy the Silence. complete crap

Goatse 10-07-2004 12:00 PM

Van Halen had a couple of stinkers: You're No Good and Dancing in the Streets. Granted, they did pretty good versions of You Really Got Me and Orbison's Pretty Woman.

:(

I lost so much respect for Korn when I heard that cover. They also put it on their new "Greatest Hits" cd.
