Bowie is my hero!

My consistant fave is Rebel Rebel, but I always remember (I was about 13) watching Top of The Pops, ironing a dress to go out in and hearing Let's Dance for the first time, it knocked me for six and made me a fan for life :)

Tala 10-06-2004 08:33 AM

Under Pressure is awesome and being the Labyrinth fan that I am, I also like most of the music from the movie. :glugglug

CE_BigB 10-06-2004 08:36 AM

Panic In Detroit !!!

Bad Ass bass rift...
and cool lyrics too..

Putting on my clothes I made by way to school
I found my teacher crouching in his overalls...
I scream and ran to smash my favorite slot machine
and jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights...

BIG B

The entire album of Ziggy Stardust. Every song on it is strong, collectively it's my favorite of his.

Also;

Diamond Dogs

Space Oddity

Modern Love

Sarah_Jayne 10-06-2004 08:54 AM

btw on the flip side I have never been able to stand Ashes To Ashes

FaberX 10-06-2004 09:04 AM

Sufragatte City
Five Years
Scary Monsters
Ziggy Stardust
Space Oddity

and so many more... Bowie is the greatest, he's always been so far ahead (maybe except in the 80s where he gave up to the bling ;))

Btw, I hope everyone has watched the movie Velvet Goldmine, if not, rush to netflix and get it (it could be quite hard to find at a blockbuster). Ewan McGregor playing Iggy Pop rocks!

I always kind of liked that one, but I think it was more because of the video.

movie wasn't great but I liked the song and the intro to the movie had what at the time was the longest continuous shot in a movie.

I have too many fave songs of his, so I'll just post my fave albums:

1.) Hunky Dory
2.) Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars
3.) David Live @ The Tower Theatre (in Philly. I was actually at one of those shows where the recording was happening.)
4.) Young Americans
5.) Low

Oh wait, there is one song that comes to mind - his cover of "Wild Is The Wind' from Young Americans. Hearing him sing that song always sends a shiver down my spine.

Gawd, how I love Bowie! :thumbsup

*Gasp!* I forgot to add that one to my list of fave albums!

David Bowie - Future Legend Lyrics

"And in the death
As the last few corpses lay rotting on the slimy thoroughfare
The shutters lifted in inches in temperance building
High on poacher's hill
And red mutant eyes gaze down on hunger city
No more big wheels

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
And ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes
Coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers
Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of love-me avenue
Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald
Any day now

The year of the diamond dogs
This ain't rock & roll,
This is....GENOCIDE!"

BitterPen 10-06-2004 04:32 PM

Who can forget the soundtrack from Labyrinth?

3. Magic Dance - David Bowie
5. Chilly Down - David Bowie

yeah, I think that falls under the same law that requires every shop in the mall to have Wham's 'Last Christmas' playing in their store.

My favourites would have to be:

Lady Stardust
5 Years

I'm afraid of Americans...

primarily because it's the only one I can name...
but it sounds pretty cool as well.
