They have dial up connections and many sites are blocked or censored and of course all accessed sites are logged ... You might been asked some questions from the police officer ...

If your staying in Varadero they may. And that's a big maybe....

With that said, if you stay there... enjoy the beach BUT GET OUT OF THERE!!! That is not Cuba. Its is beautiful beaches. That is an all exclusive resort that keeps Cubans (unless they work there) out of there.

If you want to see the real Cuba, get out of there durning the day and go into Havana (amazing city) and even to Pinar Del Rio to see some country side. If you have more time go into the south. Cuba is so rich in culture it is incredible. Music, art, dance, food... just amazing but you have to go and see it.

I have been to Cuba so much it feels like my home. I have been all over that country many times.

If you have any real questions about it (Varadero excluded) ICQ me: 201-563-471

Are you sure you didn't misread from

All intrusive
hotel searches, and flight interference, and higher taxes on tourists
free agua available from 10am to 1am only
3 meager meals per day

J/K I hope you have a good time

This is in the general population and hotels in the main cities. If your going to Varadero they may have something better for you.

Dude... I met Compay Segundo a few years back before he died and watched him jamming with some guys there. It was amazing!!! Any artist there you can go right to their house if you want and talk to them, it's not like here. They will welcome you in and bullshit with you.

Brutal dictatorship ?? says who?

oh yeah it was better when the mob was all over the island treating it as their backyard for criminal activity,

and yeah mexico is doing so much better than Cuba because the standards of living are much higher there and the people who clean your hotel don't earn 10 bucks a month in mexico, no they don't because it's a free country so they're not exploited.

Wait a second, most people in mexico also earn 10 bucks a month??? how is that possible? i thought it was a free country and people were better off there????

Cahek,
'Hotel park central' which is located in central Havana
and has great connection. No wireless but their business centre
has mci fiber. Been there multipletimes and you can connect your laptop.

When I visit Cuba I want to see the "real cuba" and not just a resort. Resorts all tend to look the same after a while.

No, but I've spent enough time in Miami to know why some people would risk their lives to leave Cuba.

Pfffft resorts rock. ;)

sherie 10-06-2004 07:48 AM

It's great down there...highspeed...not likely - tough to work from Cuba. We stayed in Cayo Coco and it was great, I think I may go back in January.

As for going there and supporting Castro - I go there to support the residents - they are full of love and are happy with the tips that you give them or the gifts that you bring them, without tourism it would be much worse. Miami is still not Cuba, some people agree with how the government runs things and a lot don't. I don't agree, but hey, I don't mind going down there and showering them with gifts, and don't tell me for one second that if th Embargo was lifted none of you would go. Christ, Americans and Canadians alike go to Thailand to fuck young girls or to the Dominican for that matter, I don't see anyone bitching about that. And boycotting those countries. And a lot of people go to Cuba simply because there are no Amercians there.
