that is a roosevelt elk . There are a few kind.. they taste damn good on the grill..

i've never seen one only eaten it on of my friends fathers hunts and he always brings us by a nice piece of whatever he has caught

That's a beautiful powerful looking animal.

Never really tried meat outside of chicken, fish, and beef, except for Buffalo and I think Deer once. Buffalo and Deer are too gamey. I don't think I'd enjoy Elk.

It's allllllll in how you prepare it and how you cook it. Unless you like the wild taste of Elk, moose or deer, you can't really cook it like you would any other meat. There are techniques to it..... and once you've had a properly prepared deer roast (with that deer gravy)... or strips of lean moose meat that has been marinated to perfection and then done on the barbecue..... or a nice elk steak done just right..... well, you simply haven't lived yet.

elk are bigger then deer and they usually run in much larger herds. they are usually in the northern or colder states.

they are smaller then moose, and not quite as mean as moose, but i wouldnt fuck with one were i you.

That's sounds about right. I mean, chicken tastes horrific without all the spices on it and without being marinated. It's natural taste by itself is disgusting.

I'll give these meats a try again but with somebody who knows how to prepare them:thumbsup
