buddyjuf 10-04-2004 10:43 PM

beemk 10-04-2004 10:44 PM

NSA -- National Safety Associates.

My dad and I were both "Direct Marketers" because we bought a shitload of water and air filters from these freaks. Then, we had shitload of water and air filters from these freaks that no one wanted.

Well, we had clean water for about 5 years after that.

FlyingIguana 10-04-2004 10:50 PM

i ask too many questions to get scammed on dumb shit. learned early on by talking to a rich florida vacationer not to fall for those get rich quick scams.

i was looking to get into 900 numbers back in the early 90s. way too expensive for a teen on a limited summer income.

vivalaspam 10-04-2004 11:14 PM

I know of 2 people that have Taken Carlton Sheets courses and make a pretty hefty living at it.

mkx 10-04-2004 11:19 PM

The send $1 to 6 people worked for me. I just read the instructions, and instead of sending money to the 6 people on the list, I posted the scam with 6 addresses a couple times on a few newsgroups, 3 of them being my own, and I made $6 off it from 2 people. Cold hard cash.

The sad part is that many on GFY make less than that.

Bigjohn 10-04-2004 11:31 PM

What! These are scams :eek7

LOL, Don Lapre has a new one out too.... "The Greatest Vitamin in the world". Seriously, that's the name of the actual product! :1orglaugh

I can't believe that people actually fall for some of these!

KRL 10-04-2004 11:33 PM

These aren't scams EB. Why'd you include those in your list?

800/900 Phone sex lines

Turnkey adult websites

Well its all about how its sold, a 900 800 number or site shouldnt cost you money

The site is a FPA and the person who sells it gets 50%

800/900 are mostly extensions

Yeah you can make money in 800/900 and adult sites and you can make money in real estate too but my point is the way they sell it is a scam.

blackmonsters 10-04-2004 11:47 PM

Yeah; when I was 8 yrs old I looked in a comic book and ordered those fucking "Sea Monkeys"!!

I still want my fucking money back!

I fell for that also.

Goatse 10-05-2004 01:55 AM

I used to be interested in Napoleon Hill's stuff for a while. His books are great when it comes to adopting the right attitude to be successful, but it's all theoretical. If you don't have the ideas and the means to take them to fruition, your life won't change at all. So I guess I got scammed for $100 worth of books.

Muff 10-05-2004 04:04 AM

There was a special on 60 Minutes about the Canadian Lottery Scam. People were losing hundreds of thousands from that.

pradaboy 10-05-2004 04:56 AM

i fell for the $1 to 6 people thing, allthough here in Holland it was ?5 to 4 people.

Still made 10x my investment so I can harldy say I was scammed :glugglug

justsexxx 10-05-2004 05:46 AM

I'll admit I tried one of those MLM things. I actually made a couple hundred off it. Not bad for a $40 investment.

chase 10-05-2004 06:20 AM

I spent $300 for a POS website dealio...they fucked up my paperwork and put me in for a merchant account that I didn't want and now I have it on my credit, trying to dispute it. We'll see how it goes! It was a group of mormons having one of those "marketing on the internet" seminar things...before I knew any better.

BTW, those real estate things, how in the heck does it work, with no down payment and even with bad credit? i just can't settle that in my head, lol

Same here. If it sounds to good to be true, it is (no probably). I'm usually the one who finds the fine print for others.

Agreed, we all have to start somewhere, and not everyone has an MBA from Harvard. The average millionaire entrepreneur has started over 10 failing businesses in their lifetime, so you have to gain experience to succeed.

My first business was started after buying Don Lapre's money making kit. Although I didn't make any money from it, I learned a lot, and hopefully I'll be a millionaire entrepreneur one day as well.

The stockmarket

I swear I have a knack for picking the wrong ones!!

Matt 26z 10-05-2004 07:32 AM

When I was like 13 I fell for the "stuffing envelopes for money" scheme. It was all very vague, but I did it anyway.

Sent them $40

Like two months later I got about 50 advertising flyer's with pre-printed address labels to put on them and send out.

The catch was that those flyer's promoted the same "business opportunity" I fell for, and I'd only get paid if those people fell for it as I did.

They company was actually selling no products.

wyldblyss 10-05-2004 07:39 AM

I don't think I have fallen for any scams. I'm not a very trusting person so I tend to be cautious about things.

Bingo...now I am wary of anything...particularly the ones that are so vague and won't tell you precisely what the prdocts are until you fork over some dough.

TommyM 10-05-2004 09:01 AM

C_U_Next_Tuesday 10-05-2004 09:05 AM
