Are Usenet sites good advertising outlets or are they just competitors, or worse?

Do you mean posting pictures to usenet groups in hopes that surfers will visit your site? If that is what you mean... maybe back in '97 that would get you some good traffic, but newsgroups have become somewhat of a dead market for surfers nowdays.Originally posted by dustface

Newsgroups still rock for discussion of programming issues, and many other topics. But for porn promotion, they're just not the ticket anymore...
I'm curious to see other responses on this... because I sure do miss the old days of posting a few pics, and getting about an extra 5k worth of traffic from it

What I mean is, do you consider sites like Picture View, Usenet Binaries and my own site GUBA competitors like any other porn site or do they fall into some other category?
I want to better understand the feeling out there and build some bridges to other sites and webmasters.GoldPerfect.com
