    still meet significant others, get married, have babies, etc? is any of that possible after such a bombshell?

          I'm sure they could have a relationship with and marry other hiv+ people. Aren't there internet groups and dating services that cater to that?

          Having kids on the other hand, would be stupid and wrong.

            I thought babies couldn't contract HiV from infected parents, something in the womb stops it?

              no.. the mother shares the same blood as the baby.. the child almost always gets it if the mother is hiv positive.

                    Not true. Only happens in 1/3 of all cases. The big problems are the birth itself and breastfeeding.

                        Yes, of course. You will still be able to live a very normal life with HIV. Many, many people do.
