damn I wish I had a television to check it out right now.

tootie 10-04-2004 10:02 AM

Wow, crater has bulged 50-100 feet and magma has been detected closer to the surface. They were saying the other day that there was no lava near the surface. :(

AnalProbe 10-04-2004 10:02 AM

Better watch this webcam, much better than the one above :

A lot of smoke. Seem like it will blow up very soon

tootie 10-04-2004 10:05 AM

They said there was a tremor that lasted 90 minutes last night!? Yikes. I guess they were expecting this today.

jacked 10-04-2004 10:06 AM

that bitch is smoken they have live feeds on CNN turn it on

tootie 10-04-2004 10:07 AM

Part of the plume is white and part is very dark. They said it is very possible that the dark plume contains ash. Last time it was mostly steam.

Tom_PMs 10-04-2004 10:08 AM

Looks cool.. I want to see some flying boulders and rivers of lava dammit! :feels-hot

hell ya that would be sweet. The area is empty so we really do not have to worry about people getting hurt - so lets see her blow her top!

tootie 10-04-2004 10:19 AM

Yeah, as long as no one is there to be harmed, I wouldn't mind seeing a little lava flow :)

You do have to worry about the wildlife in the area, though.

lava flow is good for wildlife though... so let's have some lava!!

n3in 10-04-2004 10:20 AM

oh snap, its gonna blow!

abadfish 10-04-2004 10:22 AM

It's nature... look what happened in '80... shitloads of wildlife, nature, and people destroyed... but its part of the earths natural process.

I am downwind from the ash.... but I want to see lava really bad.

Actually, if it lets out all this steam and pressure, it might just put itself back to sleep....

not likely, but it's possible.

I'm hoping for the lava scenario myself :glugglug

mardigras 10-04-2004 10:26 AM

Not likely to be much blowing up since the 1/3 top of the mountain blew off in 1980, but the lava dome might make a nice champaign cork:glugglug

tootie 10-04-2004 10:27 AM

Looks like they are holding some sort of news conference and they're saying it looks like there is very little ash in the plume. Apparently the magma is moving up and melting the glacier on the dark site of St. Helens and it's like "boiling". But they said it could lead to a real eruption.

axelcat 10-04-2004 10:27 AM

oh oh
