Depends on what you plan on doing other than backpacking really.

Lots of stuff to do and see, clubs, architecture, food, wine, tourist shitm etc etc

Too many places to mention.

I suggest you buy a Europe guide (preferably Lonely Planet), read it and decide for yourself.

Italy is always good. Venice is beautiful, Rome has a lot of historical spots, Florence is great. Never been to Barcelona but I hear a lot of good things about it. Paris is great, and Amsterdam is... Amsterdam.

If I were you I'd take trains from city to city, across Europe.

i had a ton of fun in germany and austria when i was there in 99

hova 10-04-2004 03:45 AM

Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Roma, Venice, Moscow, Amsterdam, Berlin etc etc..........

I would recommend the following tour:

Fly into London and stay there for a couple. Then take the

train down to Paris and stay there for a couple. From there

I would be head south to Munich. YouŽll have fun there. Then

cross the Alps via Switzerland (where you can enjoy natur

a bit) heading to Rome. Stay there for a couple of days before

you fly home.

I think thatŽll be enough for one trip.

The Rheinland is lovely & contrary to popular belief, the Germans are very friendly. Holland is great too but overall it very much depends on what you want to accomplish on your holiday.

Personally, I would be tempted more by the former Eastern Bloc countries.

I lived in the Greek islands for a few months when I was 20. VERY cool place to go if you're into beaches, stunning scenery (not many trees, the islands are volcanic), crystal-clear waters and lots and lots of mostly naked Scandinavian ladies on the beaches. The beer is cold, the sun warm, and you'll get a great tan in the Mediterranean sun. It's inexpensive compared to other destinations in the area, and I found the locals very friendly.

Sounds like a commercial, but I really enjoyed Greece and can't wait to go back.

pimplink 10-04-2004 12:55 PM

A lot of good advice here already

One more piece though: 3 weeks is absolutely way too short. better take at least 6 weeks.

Here's a awesome site if you want to stay in hostels: http://www.bugeurope.com
