if you think this isn't the case you know no one who is big outside adult

the way eros describes adult is exactely the way adult is seen as for many many years now

and it is an accurate view

just watch the postings of the "big boys"

look at posts of people like pimpdog , situations that pornkings get into , ....

emthree 10-03-2004 10:24 PM

If you say so.

The way it's 'seen' and the way it was are not necessarily the same thing.

I'm well aware of the outside view of Adult, and I've been on both sides of it. Unless you're personally involved, you don't know jack.

The truth is - certain parts of the industry have degraded in the last 2-3 years. Sorry - but if Pimp Dog had been posting back on the early boards, he would've been ostracized. Not a slam on him, believe it or not - times have changed, and he adapted to the current scene.

But things have most assuredly gotten worse in some areas.

I won't dissagree that things change in three years, but claiming that adult once was VERY serious and now all of the sudden went donw, is just bull

Paul Markham 10-03-2004 10:47 PM

The porn business has three main methods of delivery, Video, Print and Internet.

Internet is very young and growing, so changes are sure to occur, in fact they have to happen all the time.

Some of the new companies who started at the beginning are gone, many of those still here and still operating as if it 1998 will also go. New ones will rise to replace them and those that adapt will grow in strength.

Adult Internet is here to stay, some of todays players are not.

Porn has never been a "Serious" industry, not enough people buy it, but the Internet has increased that number and porn on the Internet is one of it's prime driving forces.

People getting broadband in the numbers they are shows that, downloading porn videos is one of the main reasons for it.

Look, it's cool - I'm not saying that Adult was ever a shining example of professionalism and decorum.

Referring to the adult web specifically, all I'm saying is that the professional demographic has changed, and in my opinion, not for the better. The bottom line is, the larger sponsors who pioneered the adult web came from other areas of business, and pursued adult web ventures as a way to make money only. To that degree, they brought a certain level of professionalism with them.

The ability to make money from porn without having to actually hold a camera or be in front of a camera brought with it the ability for the 'average person' to consider doing it as a business. So the genus of porn on the net (in terms of real money being made) came, in fact, from the 'non adult' sector.

Times have changed. I understand and accept that - but I wish we could have a LITTLE more professionalism and common human courtesy. And I know for a fact that the level of that has dropped - not my imagination. That's all I'm saying.
