or is there ?

In any case I can't find any in Montreal. forgot to look in Toronto.

anyone knows if this stuff is forbidden here or why ?

I drank in Europe, US but not in Canada!

who knows why we don't get any of that juice ? I'm falling on my keyboard right now and I could sure use one!

JzL 10-03-2004 05:56 PM

because canada is weird :)

BradM 10-03-2004 05:57 PM

I believe the main ingredient is Taurine, which is illegal in Canada.

jaYMan 10-03-2004 05:58 PM

Yeah I heard it was something about a banned ingridient too...

catharsis 10-03-2004 06:00 PM

freakin conservatives!!

man, Europe, US say it's fine, but some 80 year old cardiac decides it's too much for our population made out of geezers in a proportion of 70%+

that's it, I've had it with the govt telling me what I can drink! I should definetely move.

Europe or US, which one do you guys recommend ?

Not anymore.

Red Bull is sold in 7-11 stores in Vancouver's lower mainland. Taurine is listed as an ingredient.

evildick 10-03-2004 06:08 PM

I think a better question would be "Why would anyone want to drink that putrid shit?"

KCat 10-03-2004 06:10 PM

I'm in Alberta & have bought Red Bull in clubs before. Quebec has lots of rules that only apply within Quebec though.

We've got the real Red Bull, imported from Asia, available in Montreal. Most shops in Chinatown carry it. Most depanneurs do too.

It's called Kraetingdaeng. Comes in a glass bottle. Looks like this:

Too many fucking rules. If the label isn't in french, the Office de la langue Francaise will be on this thing like Oprah on a ham.

That's wrong. I don't even think Kraetingdaeng's labels are in English, let alone French.

Certain imported items are exempt from those rules.

no idea. i don't drink it myself. i've bought one bottle, and that was at the depanneur in metro cremazie.

if i were to take a guess, i'd say it'd be about $1-$1.50 per bottle. like i said, i know it's available in chinatown. don't know a specific place though. sorry.

I wouldn't bother. The depanneur is after the turnstiles, so if you don't have a bus pass, it'll cost you $2.50 to get in. Plus to bottles there are at least $2.

I'm asking some raver friends about where to buy it. I'll share the info as soon as I have it.

BTW, the stuff in the cans, marketed as Red Bull, is it carbonated? Because if I remember correctly, the stuff in the bottle isn't carbonated.

maxdaname 10-03-2004 06:55 PM

I always see crushed cans of Red Bull on the streets...

Apparently, they sell it in a store on Plamondon, between Victoria and Cote-Ste-Catherine called Lan Xang.

Also, the depanneur on Peel below Ste-Catherine carries the bottled version.

A dep on De Maisonneuve near Crescent carries it in cans. As does the sandwich place across from the bagel shop at Le Faubourg.

psyko514 10-03-2004 09:25 PM

according to another friend:

"it's now legal in Canada, even in Quebec, RedBull opened an office in Vancouver to sell and market the canned red bull, and the can itself is bilingual, and made especially for canada"
