Hair transplants??

Anyone in here ever have one?

If and when you start losing your hair, would you ever consider getting one?

MrIzzz 10-03-2004 02:28 PM

i am 100 times sexier as a baldman than i was when i had a full set of hair. i started losing it bad at 22, now i'm almost 29.

i suggest just shaving your head, its the cool thing to do

You look younger than 29.

I take Propecia on a daily basis and it works great. My older brother has a some obvious hair loss but I still have a full head of hair. As soon as I saw that Propecia was approved I got a script for it in 1998. Even my doctor had not heard of it.

The biggest problem with propecia is it can give you gyno. It will work in that you will get your hair back. But you might start getting puffy nipples.

kmanrox 10-03-2004 02:36 PM

and im 28

I have been taking it for at least 6 years and never had any side effects. I can affect you liver so your doctor has to give you blood tests after a few months.

The problem with anti-estrogens like these is that they kind of defeat the purpose of using propecia. Have you had success using propecia in combination with these anti-estrogen drugs? What doses do you take?

depends on if i shave or not, i have pics of me that make me look like i'm in my late thirties, lol.

either way, i hate pills, and i'm not a big fan of plastic surgery/plugs so i would not do anything to try and regrow my hair.

self-esteem is lowered only by the person who thinks theres a problem with nature

People vary as to how they are affected by propecia. You are one of the lucky ones, I guess. I have known guys who started going gyno after a few months, and they were taking anti-estrogens. They were bodybuilders so they have been overly anal about the effects.

A lot of bodybuilders start losing their hair because they are taking supplements/drugs which either increase the levels of natural testosterone in their system or fill their bodies with synthetic testosterone. Higher testosterone levels increase the likelihood that you'll start losing more hair.

Well, there is one side effect I must admit to, Propecia has lowered my sex drive a bit and my cumshots are not as big. But this is a blessing to me because before taking Propeica I thought about sex all day long and needed to have sex 2 or 3 times a day just to function like a half-way normal human being.

Soon after I began taking Propecia I became a successful person because I could actually concentrate on business instead of just sex. I am still horny, only now I only need sex once a day.

Fabuleux 10-03-2004 02:54 PM

My hair was getting thinner when I was 18, I was loosing hair when I was 20...
I was thinking about pills and surgery, I really hated it getting bald. Until my girlfriend insisted in shaving my head, and I love it. Very easy maintainance, no more bad hair days, and it looks damn sexy :)

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking. The reason for the question is that libido often decreases with age (this coincides with a natural reduction in testosterone). Most men who start losing their hair do so later in life. As a result, the lowering of libido can be a significant problem for them.

There are some supplements that can help with libido.

The whole shaved head thing is interesting. Seems like you are considered sexy if you shave it yourself but NOT sexy if it comes off without your help. You're still bald.

Nothing, transplants, drugs, etc will give you a full head of hair again.

That depends on what you consider a full head of hair to be. If you mean the kind of hair you had when you were a teenager, probably not. But I have seen some great results via both methods (surgery and drugs).

I am in my late 20's. And as soon as I began taking Propecia I felt like a whole new person. I could actually focus better instead of constantly thinking about sex every second of the day.

Even if I was not scared of losing hair I would still take Propecia because it has been a god-send for me.

You are still at an age when the testosterone is flowing through your system.

Agreed, that is why you need to take preventive measures BEFORE you lose very much hair.

There is a big diffrence between shaving your head and having a shitty haircut because you are loosing hair, I mean, modeling your hair in a way so it covers the bald places (like a lot of men do) is not sexy...

24 is awfully young to be losing your hair.

lunchbox 10-03-2004 09:02 PM

Ive been loosing my hair for a few years. I use rogaine now and it doesnt do much.Propecia seems to work well for some people, and not so well for others. I tried it but its been giving me pains (liver area) so im gona quit it. Ive tried getting back on a few times cuz it worked well but im playing with fire by using it given the side effects in having. Its definitely worth a shot for anyone loosing their hair, However, it doesnt seem to work that well in the frontal area, meaning you can still loose that and retain some of the rest.

The BEST hauir transplants, are from guys in vancouver called hissong and wong. They do some amazing work, and are defenitely worth the trip if you want a really good job. Dont think all transplants are the same, cuz they so arent. You can read up on it on boards and see. A lot of ppl arent hapopy with the results. Ill probably get one on a few years. Looking at a good 25k for a decent head of hair from teh guys i mentioned. They use teh "strip" methid which consists of slicing up scalp from the back of yer head and graphing that on yer head. Then there is something called FUE where it doesnt leave a scar since its hairs grabbed from around the head and not one big cut, but its pretty damn $. If you will get a transplat using teh strip mode, keep in mind you cant shave your head any more cuz u will have a huge scar from ear to ear. Ive sene good hair transplants. But again, your looking at a pretty penny.

Are you fucking crazy? You are way to young for a transplant. You will lose more hair for the next 20 years and it will really look bad. If they didnt tell you that then they are crooks. Wait a few years, hair multiplication will be the newest technology and you can have all the hair you want from a single hair off your head.

Gynecologist 10-03-2004 09:45 PM

Also, you lose even more hair after the surgery because of the shock you scalp goes through. I was told my a doctor that it takes several months to even begin to see an improvement.

tical 10-03-2004 10:24 PM

.5mg of finasteride (propecia, proscar) everyday should provide the same results as 1mg without the negative side effects (from what I've heard at least).

I haven't heard of anyone getting gyno because of propecia (although I know there are studies), thats probably like .001% of users

nothing is 100% safe these days but if you're going to dwell on the POSSIBILITY of negatives rather than the positives you might deprive yourself of something that could work great for your situation.

So if you're a freak and get some gyno or a limp dick, quit using it

Goatse 10-04-2004 04:18 AM

Hair transplants still look bloody awful. I take propecia and I have more hair than most women. The only side-effect is major erection issues, but that's why God invented Viagra.

KC 10-04-2004 04:44 AM

Stop being pussies and shave your heads for fucks sake.

Damn it feels good to have a full head of hair.

Daymare 10-04-2004 06:19 AM

if I start losing my hair, then so be it. I'll just shave it and save myself the hassle :)

Naughty 10-04-2004 06:28 AM

Unless you spend tens of thousands of dollars, it WILL look shitty.

There's two people I know who had it done and they still have to shave their head like me and I still look ten times better than those fools. Ever saw anybody who had it done? Look at the back of their head and you'll see big scar of the cut where they actually have to take the hairplugs out of to replant them elsehwre on the head. NOT sexy.

You rather look like a self assured bald guy, or like a guy with a scar in the back of the head which shows you have no self esteem when you have to shave your head?

And there's plenty girls who love it (then again, there's several who do not either;)). In any case, there's less girls/women who like a bad implant than a nice shaved head.

I just started shaving my head actually and damn it's harder than I though it'd be. It takes me like 30 minutes to shave my head.
