Do You Use A PDA?

I just got the Toshiba PockePC e800. This thing is amazing. The display screen is gorgeous and picture perfect. Fast processor, wi-fi, loads of memory, easy to operate, every program you need, and lightweight to carry around.

Highly recommend this. It beats lugging a laptop around by far.

My cell phone is my pda - couldn't live without it. palmOne Treo 600 :thumbsup

Manowar 10-02-2004 02:27 PM

i find a 12" powerbook laptop is more useful, and just as easy to carry, but some of the new PDA's do look to be pretty swish.

Peaches 10-02-2004 02:42 PM

I have 3 and just have never been able to get into using them.

Chandie laughed at me about this, but I have a big Pug wall calender I write everything in. :thumbsup

wdsguy 10-02-2004 07:29 PM

I use a palm m515, can't imagine my life without it

MattO 10-02-2004 07:31 PM

I have a Toshiba that I use to read E-Books in bed, doesn't cook my balls like a laptop.

chupacabra 10-02-2004 08:07 PM

KRL, i'm suprised to hear you just got the e800/805, considering Toshiba has pulled out of the N. american PDA market altoghether recently... i'll agree though, sweet device, i have one too..

SlutFinder 10-02-2004 08:13 PM

my phone does the same job

having a PDA can be like having a filofax was in the 80's :1orglaugh

converts from mini-laptop to portrait mode pda w/ a turn of the screen, runs linux kernel and you can compile any packages for it, coolest pda out imo... i do SSH from it even, worth every penny to import..

I just bought a palm tungsten E but as soon as I get to KRL status i'll be flippin the bills for the top of the line in personal digital assissting.

Mike Panic 10-02-2004 08:48 PM

still have an ol skool palm Vx - it does the job - i mainly use the software on my computer and then sync to my palm so i can have a backup - and for #'s when i travel

need something to keep track of the ad space i buy and sell nd when it expires... comes in handy

FaberX 10-02-2004 08:55 PM

I've been using a palm tungsten C for an year, best PDA ever! WiFi, lots of RAM, SDIO slot, nice keyboard, great apps (SSH, Remote Desktop thru MobileTS, all IMs thru verichat, etc)
Waiting anxiously for the Tungsten T5, but it's gonna have to be real good to replace my C. The treo 650 also looks really promising, but right now I still prefer a bluetooth enabled phone + the Palm. Only complain about the TC is the mono audio output with a propietary jack...

KRL 10-02-2004 09:56 PM

saw that. cant imagine too many people laying out that kind of cash for flash memory except for a few high-end applications (embedded servers, professional photography, etc.)..

How they figured out how to put 12 gigs on a CF is amazing to me. I still can't believe you can get 1 gig let alone 12.

the only use i've ever found for it was on an intranet, but w/ a wired CF ethernet adapter you could use it for serving data over a real switch in a pinch if it came up. still amazing to me that its a full-blown unix machine in such a small form-factor..

quincy 10-03-2004 08:59 AM

i just got an XDA2 pda/phone from O2 ^^

spankstrocko 10-03-2004 09:23 AM

The Vulcan Mini-PC from Paul Allen looks good.

They renamed it to flipstart.

One of the problems is its not out yet. Looks good though.

Axim X30, Intel® 624MHz, 64MB ROM, 64MB SDRAM, 802.11b, Bluetooth
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software for Pocket PC
X30 USB Cradle

for around $300
