I was told once that they have potato in the chips (fries) and meat in the burgers. But I think that was just a rumour.

Goose 10-02-2004 12:07 PM

I heard they reuse the coke that got spilled on the tables :1orglaugh

Probono 10-02-2004 12:11 PM

Haven't you ever noticed that they constantly have new employees? I don't see them saying 100% beef any more either :)

Make mine a blonde yum

detoxed 10-02-2004 12:13 PM

lol everything that could possibly happen to food has happened at mcdonalds, think about it. millions of burgers a year for decades.... hundreds of thousands of employees over that time......

Vitasoy 10-02-2004 01:58 PM

"Special spit burgers" is a premium here.

pornguy 10-02-2004 01:59 PM

Burger in the burger.
Well I never.

And what the fuck is up with this shakes???

naughty_weena 10-02-2004 03:11 PM

the one thing i heard was that a guy once sued them after the coffee he allegedly purchased got spilled on his lap while inside the car. he claimed that he was "seriously injured" by the hot coffee. his argument in the court was that there was allegedly no written warning on the container that the coffee was hot so he blamed them for his injuries. apparently, he won the case and since then, McDonald's have put a written warning on their containers.

i don't know if this is all true, though...

I know that they're trained more people than the United States Government, including the Army.

Once they found a dead mouse in one of the apple pies 16 years ago

My mom opened her burger to remove her pickles and found a moth. That was over 35 years ago and she still talks about it, ROFL.

I worked at McD's when I first left school. I did the induction day and the training -

sad I can still remember the cooking times for a Big mac / regular and 1/4 with cheese -

I lasted all of a three weeks - I was caught giving food to mates and charging em 5p for ketchup.

The sickest things they do that I saw were, in no paticular order;

NEVER threw away shake mix - we had loads of bags hanging in that had traces of shake mix in, once it had all run to the corner it was added to the shake machine - and guys it was not like a pint of mix it was more like a shot!

The Onions used to be shipped in from the USA and we added water to them to make em look like onions!

But the best was the pickles - these used to come in post! I have never eaten one since.

this is going back some 15 years I hope things have changed. I did learn one thing from Mcdonnalds though, process - they have it down to a fine art better then any blue chip I have worked for since -

did I spit in the food??????? Only the once when a bird asked for cheese burger with no meat, she got a grolly burger.

All in all it was not so bad in my eyes I respect anyone that works for living as apposed to claiming benefits/welfare - may a stint for the lazy people who think the world owes em living in McDonnalds will make them learn.

Oh, I also heard the fries were made from pulped potatoes, but according the book - Gridding it Out

the story of mcdonnalds their fries were stored in water butts to stop the rats getting them, they then washed out as much starch as possible to give them their unique taste.

The guy that started it all really does represent the american dream, this guy had nothing and spent 18hours a day selling vending machines before he opened his first drive through selling burgers at 5 cents or there abouts.

I read the book as no matter what we think of them now its one hell of a acheivement - BTW the squadies in Iraq (My cousin is there) wreckon if they open a Piza Hut and McDonnlads it would cheer up the locals :

Can I have a McChemmical super sized pls !

Basic_man 10-02-2004 04:50 PM

There is too many, and mostly all of them are false!

But there is a new movies comming out about McDonals, I'm gonna rent it for sure !

Enema 10-02-2004 06:18 PM

I just went to Grouphug.us and searched for "Donalds"

on the first page:

Iam the manager of a mc donalds for the past 5 years. For about 3 year of working there I'd come 15 minutes early, just to put the hamberburger buns in between my butt. I feel realy bad about doing it but i still do it anyways.iam such a basterd

lol They're deydrated onions. Flakes in a bag. Just add water, and poof onions. McD's was the first job I ever had, too, when I was 15.

Worst thing I ever did was drop burgers and buns and if no customers could see, I'd pick 'em up and reuse them suckers.

Used to work in an ice cream parlor after that. The things we did there were way worse.

Tipsy 10-02-2004 06:36 PM

I live by 'what you don't know won't harm ypu'. I've never yet got an upset stomach from McD's unlike chinese, Indian and kebabs. Ok I mave have 10 heart attacks before I'm 50 but that's little to do with the preperation :)

lets just all call it chicken

phatzaneŽ 10-02-2004 07:29 PM

i have a friend who works at mcdonalds, these are facts...

the "potatoe" fries are actually turnips inside, cheaper than potatoes...

and the cheese is one chemical away from a very hard plastic (did an experiment and it worked)

i still eat there at least 2-3 times a week though...:1orglaugh

CurrentlySober 10-02-2004 07:52 PM

No one seems to like McDonalds, yet I believe that a lot of it is down to jealousy.
After all its just a question of their business model...
Hire cheep, pay minimum wage, but above all, ensure that the ration of the % of waste,
is directly aligned to the % profit, is why they are undeniably so successful

That's also the reason that they have so many urban myths surrounding them too...
You see the simply reason behind their success is this...
They unlike their competitors, actually use nearly 98 % of the cow...

Other company's only use around 67% and with cows costing much the same worldwide, the biggest company using nearly 35% more of the product for free, means they have phenomenal profits...

For example, you know the 'gritty taste in the Shakes ?
That's actually the ground up bones of the cows !

Seriously.
I'm not on a wind up...

They are able to get away with it, because the grinding of the bones is performed in a sterile location, and also because of the sheer amount of calcium that it adds to the shake itself...

123 All together now....

There's.... NOTHING QUITE LIKE A McDonalds...

Goatse 10-03-2004 04:19 AM

A crackpot woman who used to talk to my mom believed that "100% beef" meant that entire cows were put in meat shredders with nothing removed. :1orglaugh

Mutt 10-03-2004 04:28 AM

things aren't that much better at better restaurants - the same stuff goes on back in the kitchen at good restaurants - not as often as people want to believe.

Long story, but here is the short version:

I know a Doc, who is working in a hospital with cancer.
Hes kid had some trouble eating a bigmac and the father looked at the meat. After a test at the hospital, is shown out to be a cancertomur.
