I caught a shark from a pier once, only about 7 or 8 feet but weighed well over 1000 lbs. Five of us couldn't lift any more than its head out of the water.

We pushed a nearby crane on rails over and lowered the steel cable down with a butchers hook on the end. I got the hook in its mouth and we cranked the cable up.

The steel hook straightened out under the weight and the shark slowly swam off. :)

A few months after I met my current GF I got a job offer in southern spain. But I didn't go because of the girl.
In retrospect it was a good thing, but I like to tease my girl with it since we're planning a move to spain now. Shit like "I could already be there" etc. fun.
