Twisted light fiber optics - The next big thing in telco industry

I saw this shit on Discovery and it is absolutely amazing!

Instead of the lights going on for 1 and off for 0 they can now twist the light so that there is no more ON/OFF and it is a continuous light stream!

They claim that it can carry 10X the data of the fiber optics in use today and that it is totally secure because of the light twisting.

Anyone else heard of this shit yet?

How close are they to commercializing this? Is there a standard already like WDWM (sic?) ?

I think it is a matter of the telco/backbone ISPs upgrading hardware at their POPS. From what they were saying on TV, the technology can run off the same fibre lines which companies have spent millions on laying which is a huge advantage imho

Easy backward integration is always a HUGE plus. Would be nice to see this proliferate. Cheaper hosting. More "heavy" content demand. Definitely good news.
