Well, I'm wondering how geo-targeting can be used to increase sales? I'm thinking of basically sending foreign people to foreign language sites. That is basically it, right?

Basically, and to filter out un-needed traffic (china) to send straight to dialers. It could be used for many things such as targeting products based on what city the IP is from..

yes that is basically it , but it is a complicated matter


just having a site in the users language does not make em sign up or interested

Also, has anyone installed the geo ip mod on Apache? I'm wondering what kind of load it will have on server and how customizable it is.

Also, does anyone know of any foreign sponsor programs or billing providers? As I understand most of the major porn companies and billing companies are English only. How is a Japanese person supposed to pay for porn if he/she doen't know english?

Dialers are your best bet, some are better than others depending on which country. It is good to have multiple dialers setup, find the best ones per country.

Interesting... We get a significant amount of traffic from Japan (that's why built the Japanese version). It might be something to do with that particular ISP.

Or it could be a library or daycare center with filters installed.
