Yep, pay as you go ends up really expensive. Vodaphone have some great plans.

I always had contract, seems like too much hassle to check if credit is running low or not.

I've always been pay by the month it's your best option...

Pay as you go phones really suck.

those worked real good in 1997 when you had shitty credit and they wanted 500 or more down for collateral

I am on a 1500 minute a month plan.. comes with internet and all that jazz...

exactly. also, they're good if you're a minor without credit.

i used to have a pay as you go plan and it costed a fortune. i was spending at least $50 a month and i always had to be careful to not go over my minutes.

then again, i use my cell very often. if you're planning on using it only in emergencys or just not so often, pay as you go is good and it'll cost you as little as $10 a month.

Here FIDO is really cheap for monthly.

pay and go phones are there as an option for people with bad credit...

yep... i'm paying $25 a month for 100 anytime mins, 1000 weekend/night mins, UNLIMITED incoming calls and txt msgs.

plus, for an extra $20 a month, i get unlimited email, aim/icq and internet use (my phone has a 320x240 colour screen with QWERTY keyboard).

It really depends on what you are using it for.

If it is for screwing around with, and not anything real, it could be worth it.

What he said. A lot of people simply don't use one enough to warrant a monthly contract.
