To all of you Vegas webmasters who RSVP'd for the webmaster dinner...

Fuck you guys...
The dinner was set by you all RSVP'ing. You all were told that the dinner was pay per plate. I had set the reservation for 25 people (that's what I was told as the final number for the RSVP). 9 People showed up and those that did show up, underpaid. I heard of 1 person that had to duck out of the dinner at the last moment (sykk), and that's understandable... Thanks for contacting us. :thumbsup

For you others... Zoe and I were stuck paying for the food that you didn't eat. The food was geat, but a $400 check for a couple plates of food is hardly worth it. When you all committed to showing up, you should have kept your word. Instead, we were stuck with a large bill for food that people didn't show up to eat.

Thanks a ton Zoe for saving a horrible evening... To the rest of you... :321GFY

The thread with the RSVP's are on GFY. I may be burning some bridges, but what happened was truely shitty. Keeping your word isn't just polite... It's a necessity when doing business. :2 cents:

I feel ya. It is truely fucked up and is something that I would not just let pass. Well since you do not wish to out them here, how about you thank those that did show and fully paid, then list who just showed, so we can figure the rest out ourselves?

media 10-01-2004 03:55 AM

Thats sad to hear man.. Wish you didnt have to fork out that shit outta your pocket... On the plus side at least it's a deduction... (not that it makes it right)

Thank you's to:
Zoe
Davie Vegas
(A couple of other people who sat at another table that I didn't have a chance to talk to)
My Girlfriend (I paid, bt she still counts :) )

The thing is, we had 3 tables reserved. Zoe, myself, Davie Vegas and my girlfriend sat at 1 table while the other sat at another. We thought more would arrive and the others wanted their own table, so we sat apart. In the end, I called up personal friends to come and get some food. There was no sense in wasting it all.

If you find the other thread, you'll see who flaked out without notification.

That's exactly what I told Zoe with a smile...Unfortunately it didn't ease the bitter taste much.

Maybe I should skip get togethers and just join you for a few crazy nights. :thumbsup

Zoe_Zoebaboe 10-01-2004 05:30 AM

Heh, thanks for the nice words, Shermy

Yeah, it was kinda messed up, but that will be the last time I have a gathering where I depend on people to show up, heh

Oh well, live an learn.

I just know in the gatherings to come I get a couple free meal tickets :P

OzMan 10-01-2004 01:32 PM

That fucking sucks. I apologize of behalf of my fellow lazy assed Vegas Webmasters.

I didn't RSVP as I wasn't sure if we could make it.

I haven't reread the original thread, can't find it actually..

but from what I recall it wasn't made real clear that if you say you will show and you don't, that someone will be stuck with your bill.

RSVP to me means "let us know how big a table to reserve", not "I have to pay/prepay x amount based on your saying yes.

As for the people that showed but couldn't pay $10???
WTF Why show up with no money, stay home.
Like nobody will notice or remember you short payed?
What a great way to develop a business contact/friendship :ugone2far

I don't get it.

Sly 10-01-2004 01:44 PM

That really sucks guys. Hate to say it, but it isn't the first time it's happened. Somebody always does something like that without thinking how it could effect the other parties.

DWB 10-01-2004 01:44 PM

That blows. I would of come if I lived there. :thumbsup I never pass up on Chinese food.

DavieVegas 10-01-2004 01:49 PM

You know what? Why do I see only people who were not posting they were going to go replying in here? Where the fuck is everyone who didnt show up? Zoe and sherm are still being polite in this situation, I dont think they should be. if it was up to me id never put another gathering together again unless it was with something I knew no one could flake out on.

Ryan_TBP 10-01-2004 02:03 PM

Well we RSVP'd, and did show up, but somehow evidently underpaid. I haven't heard any details on the bill, but emailed Zoe this morning and she understands that it wasn't intentional. Something just didn't add up right somwhere I guess.

$40 - Four attendees at $10 a piece
$9 - Three beers
$3 - Our guess of what two sodas cost
$20 - Our guess for three appetizers
$72 - TOTAL

We ended up leaving $90 which we thought would cover it all since the bill wasn't around yet when we took off. Apologies to everyone from us, but I'm glad we made it out at least to see everyone. :winkwink:

DirtyDanza 10-01-2004 02:05 PM

BRO IT TOTTALLY SPACED MY MIND.... I would have been there... you guys got my number.. call and remind a nigga..... the next get together... zoe , davie , and zoe are on me..... my apogolies guys

Giorgio_Xo 10-01-2004 02:06 PM

When was the dinner? Was I on the list? I don't remember a Vegas dinner party.

I don't get it.

I thought it was pretty clear when we mentioned that it was a set menu at $10 a head. When you RSVP at a pay per plate dinner, you should assume that your plate will be paid for regardless of whether or not you show up. Maybe that's assuming too much, but I think that way. As Zoe said, it'll be the last time we expect people to show up...From now on people can just come stag. :thumbsup

The party that showed did pay, but I wasn't quite sure what the total was...I just know it was a bit short and it wasn't intentional. My apologies if that came off as standoffish. :glugglug

xclusive 10-01-2004 03:03 PM

That's shitty man but at least you learned a lesson on what people not to deal with, They gained a meal for the ones that underpaid and the ones that skipped out on you just don't do business with them anymore and they will have lost out on a lot more by being assholes...

Oh now THAT is just fucking WRONG!!!

I'd make sure not to invite, or accept RSVP's from them again..

I didn't RSVP, cuz I knew I couldn't make it, as I'm slammed with work right now, but would have loved to have been there.

There's always next time...

Oh, and when I RSVP, I show up, unless i'm bleeding from my eyes or ears.

Zoe_Zoebaboe 10-01-2004 03:18 PM

Yeah, i'm not gonna get too serious into it. It was a mistake, no one is *really* in the wrong. I do believe when it's a "head-count* pre-paid dinner it's nice to know who is to show up and who isnt., and the fact that 15 people rsvp'd and didnt show up, that says something. In the previous gatherings ive planned there would be maybe 4 or 5 people that wouldnt show up, but 15 is a large number.

As I said, it was a mistake, and next time I won't think of having anything where I expect people to show up, and thats what I kinda like about the usual gatherings. The fact that you can show up, or not, because it's a relaxed setting like that.

No big deal, i'm not out to burn any bridges or talk shit, I just know in the future people will be extra nice to me :)

D-Money 10-01-2004 03:22 PM

Wow, that sucks.

At least you gave them the courtesy not to call them out in this thread (by names) and I'm sure those who flaked are afraid to apologize in this thread since it makes them look bad.

Sorry to hear you got screwed over by people you like.

Zoe is the smart one... I'm not here to talk shit, but I'm speaking my mind. :Graucho

It's done and over.. I know better for next time. :thumbsup
