CNN is reporting from Samarra that a major offensive is underway
 

...to clean Samarra of "insurgents". It is being reported that a full Brigade is moving into the city. It is being reported as the largest offensive since the first few weeks of the initial invasion of Iraq.

As always one must take media reports with a large grain of salt...especially initial reports.

Graphic but very well done KRl. It's a point that needs to be made and sometimes to make people see things as they are you have to hit them right between the eyes with teh brutal truth...

This may be the first of a wave of operations to clean up the so called "No Go Zones"/sanctuaries for "insurgents".
