There were severe pedophiliac undertones in "The Professional"

No doubt.

chupachups 09-30-2004 11:08 AM

Yes, there was but who cares. It was meant to be weird, forbidden and beautiful.

DarkJedi 09-30-2004 11:11 AM

Check out "Wasabi", also with Jean Reno and dir. by Luc Besson. They carry the pedo theme to new levels.

Wiggles 09-30-2004 11:14 AM

It was more her interest in Jean Reno's character though, he saw her as a daughter, not sexually.

AVM 09-30-2004 11:17 AM

Anyway good movie. :glugglug

Natalie Portman - :glugglug :glugglug :glugglug :thumbsup

The director's cut which is sold as "Leon" removes all doubt on this topic.

:2 cents:

Exactly. I wouldn't call it "pedophiliac" since there was no sexual attraction from adult to child.

no Doubt Leon (the Professional) is an Awesome movie...

It's one of my favorite films, next to The Replacement Killers

um..it is the story about a older man who takes on a young girl to train in his profession.....what type of undertones did you think there would be?

M_M 09-30-2004 11:30 AM

You are a pervert yourself for looking for those 'undertones'.

naughty_weena 09-30-2004 11:44 AM

yeah, that was a good movie. :thumbsup Natalie Portman looks so pretty there even though she was only 12 (?) at that time...

Marcus Aurelius 09-30-2004 11:51 AM

still a good movie. and natalie portman is a pure and virginal princess among women. shes no whore. get those unclean thoughts out of your head!!

CDSmith 09-30-2004 11:51 AM

For some odd reason, if those undertones are couched within the confines of a movie, they are acceptable in society's eyes due to something called "artistic merit".

Ever see "Thirteen"?

What about the movie "Lolita"?

"Fast times at Ridgemont high"?

All three have much more than simple "undertones". I suppose a movie can "talk about" any subject, as long as the main focus of the picture isn't to glorify that subject.

The step-dad and the older sister - a hint.

Matilda and Leon: she wanted him.

Hinting to the hotel clerk: definitely.

His reaction: standard.

Matilde dressing up very sexy for Leon, especially the Marilyn outfit: absolutely

Wiggles 09-30-2004 12:45 PM

The directors cut is amazing, alot more character development for Leon, i recommend getting it.

jade_dragon 09-30-2004 12:46 PM

What was that award winning movie that had infidelity, statutory rape fantasies, homosexuality, child abuse and drug use? The poster was the duaghter's friend her dad wanted to sleep with on a bed of roses.
