About the only place left on earth were there are still REAL slaves is in Africa. Yes, Africans own slaves. Where do you think all the cocoa beans come from. Every time you eat chocolate you are eating something that is the product of slavery.

Of course you never hear about this because it is Africans enslaving other Africans. If there were white people involved it would be front page news and every western country would be sending in troops to take the country over.

There is a slave trade in a good few countries. This includes the heart of the US, Europe and other "civilized" places.

Slavery is not just a black thing, slaves come from loads of countries and slave trade "operators" are not predominantly black either.

One thing the "country of origin" of slaves seen to have in common is that they are often poor countries or countries ravaged by wars (which I suppose, equals "poor").

You are right in the chocolate stuff - you think the "noble white man" is not knowingly involved in slavery in this area?? :-) Just look at any "chocolate corp" in Europe or the US...

Some forms of slavery are which can be described as enforced labor. There is plenty of that - you just have to visit the mall to see the products of slave labor. That's what enables all that cheap shit that makes your life "nicer".

There is a substantial market in "flesh trading" (prostitution) where women (and kids!) are shipped into "civilised" countries - there is plenty of this in the US and all over Europe.

Slavery is slavery - whether this is a family in Indonesia in a "forced labor" situation, workers on tea plantations in India, the prostitute in Dallas, the Dole "fruit workers camps" in Latin America or the whorehouse in Frankfurt.

Where a person is forced into a situation, is unable to "walk out" or have support of "authorities", is paid nada to do shit they don't want to do, or else die - this is effectively slavery.

I can show ya "slave camps" within two hours flying time of the US. These are operated by "Brand name" corps in the US. The people don't have chains on their ankles tho their movements are "restricted", and the work conditions and time they have to work in a day is ... lets say it's more than a 48 hour week.

Suppose that's the modern, and acceptable, face of slavery...
