The overzealous use of exclamation marks
 

I think this is becoming one of my peeves. Do you find the overuse of exclamation points really really annoying? Do you use them yourself? Here is an example:

"John I can't believe you did that!!!!!!!!!!"

Why, oh why do you insist on torturing me so?
One gets the point accross. If you want to emphasize something or express joy, delight or even anger, ONE is your friend. However using more than one is just wrong.

the ! should be used with discretion

however, let's not underestimate the power of the !!!!!!!

I hate them also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
