Donnie Darko

I *finally* got to see it after ages of trying. The DVD just finished and I will say - WOW.

I nearly thought I was going to lose it with the film when Drew Barrymore showed up since I didn't believe her at all as a well read teacher but whenever she was off the screen I loved the mental mind fuck of a movie.

I really had to force myself to get past the first part. Teenagers who talk to their parents and parents who do not floor them for taking such a disrespectful tone with them make me want to vomit. Once I got past that it became OK. Glad you enjoyed

radical 09-30-2004 07:44 AM

Amazing movie :thumbsup

Rob 09-30-2004 10:17 AM

I thought it was a great movie! It really was a mindfuck type movie and I loved it!

I found it somewhat similar to Butterfly Effect.

FuckFind 09-30-2004 10:18 AM

Thats how I first saw the movie too. Took me a few times of watching to get it, but thats part of what makes it such a awesome movie. :thumbsup

absolutely loved Donnie Darko! thought it was brilliant.......

favorite two scenes............the getting off the bus scene and going into the school to the tune "Head Over Heels" was totally in sync and great, and this one:

WASTE GROUND ? LATE AFTERNOON

<Ronald Fisher, Sean Smith and Donnie Darko are shooting bottles>

Ronald Fisher: Beer and pussy, that?s all I need.

Sean Smith: We gotta find ourselves a Smurfette.

Ronald Fisher: Smurfette?

Sean Smith: Mm-hmmm.

Ronald Fisher: Not some, like, tight-ass Middlesex chick, you know? Like this cute little blonde that will get down and dirty with the guys. Like Smurfette does.

Donnie Darko: Smurfette doesn?t fuck.

<Donnie shoots a bottle>

Ronald Fisher: That?s bullshit. Smurfette fucks all the other smurfs. Why do you think Papa Smurf made her? Because all the other Smurfs were getting too horny.

Sean Smith: No, no, no, not Vanity. I heard he was a homosexual.

Ronald Fisher: Okay, well, you know what? Then she fucks them while Vanity watches Okay?

Sean Smith: What about Papa Smurf? He must get in on the action.

Ronald Fisher: Yeah, what he does, he films the gang-bang. Later on, he beats off to the tape.

Donnie Darko: First of all, Papa Smurf didn?t create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel?s evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario <laughs> is just couldn?t happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don?t even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That?s what?s so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What?s the point of living if you don?t have a dick?

Sean Smith: <sighs> Damn it, Donnie. Why do you gotta get so smart on us?

It was a much bigger hit in the UK than it was in the States. It was one of those movies that came out with no fanfare and then suddenly everyone was talking about it. The newer version of Mad World used at the end was the #1 record at Christmas over here last year. I missed it in the cinema but glad I finally got to see it.

eroswebmaster 09-30-2004 11:55 AM

My favorite line of the movie.

"Sometimes I question your committment to Sparkle Motion."

I don't know why...but it's funny as fuck.

pushpills 09-30-2004 11:57 AM

Great movie, the directors cut was released in a limited number of theatres this year and I caught it.

h0st 09-30-2004 11:59 AM

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Memento is much better :321GFY

Elli 09-30-2004 12:00 PM

They are re-releasing a longer version for theatres up here.. or maybe they already did? Anyway, I was seeing ads on tv for a while there. Dang, now I'll have to go watch it again. That and Igby Goes Down.

In a world where any Pauly Shore movie exists I find it hard to belive it is one of the worst movies ever on anyone's list.

klik 09-30-2004 12:31 PM

If you want horrible all you got to do is give "Garfield" a try. Truly a movie that is better served as a coffee coaster.

nofx 09-30-2004 12:37 PM
