Black Tower Series

Anyone read this series by Stephen King, I started it about maybe 10 years ago and its just finishing now, I've red of to "The Wizard and the Glass", anyone read further, does it live up to the first few books?

no, it gets weaker towards the end. Book 7 just came out yesterday I think, I'm reading it right now and I'll let you know :)

mostly it's just that the secondary characters are much weaker than the main Roland character, and as the series goes on they get all the attention. The Odetta character just gets on my fucking nerves, I wish she would have been killed off in the first few installments

I know I fucking Hate Odetta, and it made me even more upset that the other guy fell in love with her. grrrr :feels-hot

I just finished book 7

the first 3 were definitely better than the last 4.

some new characters from other books and short stories are in 7 but just enough to keep it interesting

Wow - exactly as far as I got. Wasn't it set on earth many years in the future where magic had re-appeared or somesuch?

yeah it's like he's just crow-barring her into the story when she really doesn't belong. I think he wanted to make this his big unifying project, to create his own mythology by tying all his work together in this one major work but it got away from him somewhere around book 4.

Whoever said they have trouble following King's books and movies, you should go read some of the early stuff like Carrie, The Shining or The Regulators.

Several movies based on his books are classics and not to be missed like of course The Shining, but also Salem's Lot, Pet Sematery, Misery, Creepshow, The Green Mile, Thinner...

basically it's fucking totally amazing what King has been able to do. I'm awed by this guy.

nah it's set in past, present AND future and it's about the 'real' world behind this one.

I knew my memory was hazy. Been a very long time since I read one. Guess I'll have to start from the beginning again and work my way through :)
