Getting Revenge on Ebay Phishers
Ever get those annoying emails wanting you to log in to your ebay account for a variety of reasons? The link looks legit at first glance but the link clearly doesn't go to ebay. Their intention is to snag your login information.
I have been getting a few of those emails a day for months and I finally had enough of it. I opened up my perl editor and went to work. After about 20 minutes I had created a script that would generate legit looking usernames and passwords and would submit those to the phishers script at a given intervals. Better yet the script uses a list of proxy servers They were basically being flooded with data that they couldn't identify the source of and couldn't determine if it was legit data or not which basically puts their scheme out of business. Next time I get a Bank of America phishing email, their ass is mine. :glugglug |
sounds like a bunch of free time, but go get em tiger :thumbsup

Pretty nice approach. Flood there database with bullshit account info. Chances are they will just code a program to test all the accounts and sift out the bad ones.

Idle hands may be the devil's work
But idle minds, you see, are so much worse... (Type O Negative) Beautiful!! Wanna do that with mine too?? |
Great idea nonetheless.

When my script started to time out on every attempt I checked their site and it was down. The script had submitted 177K+ logins. :1orglaugh |

177k Holy shit. Some scum bag is going to very excited when he/her checks the phish database. Then several minutes later VERY dissapointed. :1orglaugh |

Very nice. You should pass around the code.

I actually haven't been getting many of those ones anymore. Although I have been getting hit by the "Suntrust Internet Banking" emails. It's like WTF, how many people have accounts there where they'd send them out to everyone. If I were them, I'd go for the Ebay or Pay Pal mails.
