Egg Drops are IRC chat bots. An Egg Drop server is a server that doesn't mind hosting an eggie.

It could be used for spamming, but most people use them to keep a room alive while everyone else is sleeping. If there's someone in the room, it doesn't close.

Besides, if you're using it in your own room, you can't very well call it spamming, then, right?


EDIT: While this does make me sound like a complete idiot, this is the observation I've made over years of chatting in controlled IRC environments. There are those places who just don't give a fuck, and there are those who will find a way to ban you from connection if you use a bot for spam.

they have spam scripts for eggdrops that join random rooms and spam a url and part but mostly they are used to hold channels

... it's that shit that get's installed first once your server got hacked.

No doubt.... I got fucking 0WN3D once bigtime and they filled up my box with IRC bots and relays and servers and lots of other nasty shit.
