Hurricane / Tropical Storm JEANNE wuz here last night ... (PICS)

Well, woke up this morning and stepped out of bed onto soaking wet carpet:( Our entire downstairs was flooded last night about 3 maybe 4 inches. Doesn't sound like a lot, but enough to ruin floors and some other things.

My concrete driveway is currently a river as well .

Taking pics for Insurance so I thought I'd share a few before I decide to stop staring at the mess and just climb back into bed :(

Here is part of the driveway

and here's a shot at the back door to show how high the water came up and on into the house

Wind knocked down the basketball goal which is filled with sand, and water washed up all this mess

Exactly my thoughts at the moment-the only thought I have LOL. All I can do is look around at all our furniture stuck into a corner to get it off the carpet , then the mess outside and I think instead of attempting to clean up anything I'm just gonna climb back in the bed for a few hours

Damn that sucks. Move to Canada. We never get any of the crap here. We might get burried under snow from time to time but thats fun ;) Good luck.

Damn, I just woke up here *In Charlotte* and I guess I need to go check out my surroundings.

Yep...you better walk outside. We still have roads under water in my neighborhood. Haven't wandered any further yet

where are you from? for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, the hurricane hit my city directly. The 2 storms hit within 2 miles of each other, this is a record, never has happened before, and probably never will.

Screaming 09-28-2004 08:17 AM

sucks to have to clean up after them

wyldblyss 09-28-2004 08:22 AM

I think you should take a nap too. Not sure why, but I'm the type when crap like that happens....I need a nap. I think my brain "deals with it" when I'm sleeping and I feel much better and am ready to tackle things afterwards.

I'm in Salisbury North Carolina. Thankfully Jeanne downgraded before getting here, but we got all the rain :(

yeah, we got winds up to 120MPH , it was stronger than Frances, but luckily moved by faster..

Frances stuck around 2 days, ridiculous.
Over 2 million people in my area have no power, it may take up to 3 weeks to restore.

Manowar 09-28-2004 08:27 AM

:( that sucks

axelcat 09-28-2004 09:34 AM

thats bad

jm_247live 09-28-2004 09:37 AM

Sorry to hear about this Ivy. I still don't know how I've gotten so lucky down here on miami beach but my thoughts and prayers go out to all those less fortunate.

zzgundamnzz 09-28-2004 09:40 AM

That sucks, some of the flooding looks bad...atleast your house is still standing though.

MichaelP 09-28-2004 09:43 AM

Damn Ivy. that Sucks :(

I know what you are going thru. I had a flood too in my basement few years ago and yes it is a real mess..

Especially in the basement, where we all put stuff and stuff and stuff...

Good luck with it Ivy. I hope you are insured against that ...

baddog 09-28-2004 09:47 AM

there is something to be said for raised foundations over concrete slabs.

I would NEVER buy a house that had a concrete slab foundation. Water being just one of the many

good luck
