what is a users average screen resolution
I am building an interactive web site, adn I want to base it on average screen resolution of a user. Please post what you think it is. ill use the majority answer
|
Although a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is predominant in the US, Europe, and Japan, in some areas, such as South East Asia, smaller screen sizes such as 800 x 600 may still be common.

I still notice most average surfers use 800x600 , while web developers and the such use higher resolutions.
Always develop for 800x600 :thumbsup |
If you're doing that kind of site then simply build something that looks good in 800x600 AND 1024+. It's really not hard to do and should be something anyone designing a site does by default anyway.

1024x768 is more than 50% now.
But I would still design for an average of 800x600.. it'll be a bit yet before it's relegated to a super clear minority. You could also have your site detect the resolution and adjust accordingly. |
I'd say build for 800x600.
My laptop is 1280x800 widescreen. |
Another vote for 800x600

ok so 800 it is thanks guys. I figured that much, but wasnt sure what the majority use.
|
1024 x 768 but I still design all my sites at 800 x 600 just to accomodate everyone. Pretty soon 1024 will be default but until then, I cater to all!
Why penalize someone for having a retarded screen res? If you design your sites at 800 x 600 EVERYONE can see EVERYTHING! :thumbsup |
