Why do people Hate and ridicule fastfood workers?

Why all the jokes re McJobs or "At least I don't work at McDonalds" etc etc

NEWSFLASH: These people aren't dealing dope, pimping hos, or plotting terrorist attacks. They are simply earning an honest wage. Then why the fuck the low status and ridicule?

freeadultcontent 09-27-2004 05:14 AM

I do not see them in a bad light. Some people just flip burgers, others cut grass, or pick vegetables. They are working so all is good with me.

Tipsy 09-27-2004 05:14 AM

Easy and obvious targets :2 cents:

I just don't get it. This scorn for 'menial' work will completely fuck up the USA/CAN/EU

Habitual thinking from social conditioning.

I love fast food and appreciate the people who provide it.

Easy and obvious should be those who are living off of some assistance, not working at all, and not treating what we do as a business but more as free porn and occassional alcohol money.

I never claimed otherwise or said it was right/wrong. You asked why people do it and I answered. I didn't even suggest I agreed with it.

As for the 'scorn for menial work' fucking a country up - what sort of alternate reality do you live in?

Paul90 09-27-2004 05:20 AM

Especially when most if the fat lazy computer geeks who post on this board LIVE off of that shit....they should BOW to the fast food worker...

Some people are juts immature and most are just trying to be smart when their mates are around!!

I've no grudges against people who work in fastfood joints! My hat off to them!! It's all money at the end of the day!! As said it's an honest wage!

someone got a tender spot? your a fast food worker thats disgruntled? lol fast food workers are like the lowest thing on the pole next to illegal immigrants working for a few bucks an hr get an education and get a real job :thumbsup

BrainDead 09-27-2004 05:23 AM

There is scorn for menial work, at least from experience in the USA.

Ever wonder why there's so many Mexicans in Southern California? Cuz it seems not too many US born citizens want minimum wage fastfood jobs.

I will never make fun of somebody for working hard when there are so many lazy bastards to make fun of...

blazin 09-27-2004 05:23 AM

I have never worked in a fast food joint... but I certainly commend those that do.. being as the vast majority of them are students making extra dough to support them while getting thier education.
Very few are doomed to work there for the rest of their lives and will go on to bigger and better things.

BrainDead 09-27-2004 05:24 AM

No, Einstein. I just appreciate people who WORK LEGALLY for their money. So RESPECT to all the fast food workers out there.

Are you able to read and understand replies? Again - I've not said that fast food workers aren't scorned and have not done so myself.

When you have even a very basic understanding of social economics try again. You'll start making more sense.

Careful you don't full off of that high horse you're on.

almighty 09-27-2004 05:28 AM

I have no problem with fast food workers as a whole. My issue is that the majority of them fuck up your order.

I rarely eat fast food, but when I do, I rarely get what I ordered.

The government doesnt like competition.
So do not steal.
Do not deal drugs.
Do not set up gambling operations.
Do not charge protection money.
Do not start racketeering.
No loan sharking.
And absolutely no taking points on every dollar.

webmasters

Rochard 09-27-2004 06:20 AM

Because it's an entry level job that requires no brain thought what so ever, yet they fuck up my order fifty percent of the time.

Sarah_Jayne 09-27-2004 06:33 AM

the McDonalds in my community growing up wouldn't hire students that had bellow a B average at school and they did check.

eroswebmaster 09-27-2004 06:34 AM

I managed for Taco Bell for over 7 years and I can tell you fast food is far from easy work.

I had lawyers and doctors come in and throw fits over 59 cent tacos not having "enough cheese" that they wouldn't have thrown over a $25.00 steak and lobster dinner at Red Lobster.

I also managed a mall unit one time. Not your regular food court store, but a full unit that just happened to be attached to the mall. Anyway I made more money than just about every manager in that mall with the exception of the Nieman Marcus and Dillairds managers. However just about every manager of that mall looked
down on me because I was in fast food.

They were still pulling maybe $1.00 - $2.00above min. wage as the "manager" of Spencers or some record shop, but they behaved as if their shit didn't stink.

Anyway, you do have some idiots working in fast food as you do in any business and I think this board is glaring proof.

There are successful people in this biz that think they are the next Sam Walton when you can clearly chalk it up to luck and timing.

I did 3 months in a minimum security McDonalds right after high school. It was the most stressful job I've ever had. I had fucking dreams about McDonalds.

I think to be honest youngish people working in a fast food place is no bad thing. They are most likely getting themselves through University.

But when you see people who are like 35 and working in a dead end job you kinda wonder why.... Did they have no ambition as a kid? I know a lot of factors may be involved but thats the way I am. I just wonder why they are doing it.

jacked 09-27-2004 06:57 AM

it's one of those last resort jobs

Pornweaver 09-27-2004 07:00 AM

For those of us who WILL work @ a Fast Food place if push came to shove and the need arose, we will never be jobless and without income.

It disgusts me when I hear lazy ass people say "I ain't gonna flip no burgers!", they think they are too good to work @ McDonald's or something. They would rather sit and collect welfare, or mooch off of their friends instead of getting a job. I just want to bash their heads in.

Some people regardless of their "brains" are put into situations and never make it to University.

Others - what they trained for - is now obsolete.

Who's to say the hamburger flipper doesn't actually own a major set of domains - increasing in value every day?

Before you judge someone else - apply those SAME rules to yourself and you will find - you're not much better.
