AMD Athlon 64 3400+ or Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz? Which one is better?
I figure I ask the experts on this...
I'm configuring a new PC for myself, and I can't decide if I want Intel or AMD...the choices are P4 3.4 Ghz, or AMD 64 3400+... I have read reviews and all that other shit...I can't get anything out of it. They are both so close together..Intel is about $30.00 more expensive, so price isn't an issue. I have always been loyal to Intel and have always built Intel's, so I'm new to AMD...what would you get, and why? |

good luck figuring out that one

The Pentium 4 won't freeze up when a new program comes out.

I switched to AMD a couple of years ago after being loyal to Intel.
Well, what do you want to do with your PC? Gaming? If that's the case. Do you want to overclock it? And if you want to overclock it, which one runs faster and is more stable according to the reviews? Did you compare the benchmakrs for the games you're playing right now ? |
P-IV. You won't save any $$$ with the Athlon, you'll probably get a slight performance boost from the hyperthreading, and you won't have to worry anywhere as much about having the processor fry its brains out if the CPU fan fails.

P4 forever!

I'd pick AMD any day of the week

I personally have had a lot more problems with AMDs then p4 ... so now I only go with intel . I'm not a gamer anyways ... and p4 is faster for video editing
