Jerry Falwell says Christians control the Republican Party
The Rev. Jerry Falwell said yesterday that evangelical Christians, after nearly 25 years of increasing political activism, now control the Republican Party and the fate of President Bush in the November election.

sadly that rich fat 'pastor' ain't lying.

Yes. The Republican party is no longer the "small government" party. It has been hijacked. Some older, more business-oriented, Republicans don't seem to be aware of what they're actually supporting these days.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ws/jesus/view/ I wish we had a better party system. Right now economic conservatives are unintentionally supporting a scary movement of hardcore fundamentalism. |

People are voting for the tax cuts, but they're also getting an un-healthy dose of Christian morality as well. |
No, the Republican party controls the Christians. They heard them to the polls like sheep.

Neither is in control, they are just using each other. Bush knows what he has to do to get votes.

Fundies are fundies. It matters not what mythology book they have.
They will do anything to achieve their ends, to control the government, to destroy dissent. After all, they have a deity on their side that in their mythology book tells them that they are right. In Canada we experienced the fundies having a go at getting power. They created a new political party called the Reform Party. The party no longer exists. I hope freedom loving americans oppose their fundies as successfully. |

He is telling the truth sad to say

The sad part is that it's pseudo-Christianity too.
Peace loving real Christians wouldn't advocate going to war illegally and having civilians slaughtered in the name of economic growth. But you'll find them backing these very policies. But then again, that doesn't come as a surprise since Christianity as it's sold in the US is largely a business enterprise itself under the guise of faith. Saying that God is on your side gives you all the justification you need to do anything you want, whether it's exploitation or worse. This is the kind of radicalism that you're seeing in the Republican Party. It's part of the reason why the world essentially opposes what we're doing in Iraq but so many of us are unable to see it because the radicalal policies have been given mainstream currency thru yellow media. |

If only they stopped with the "God is on our side" attitude and switched to the "We hope that we're on God's side" attitude. That would make it a better faith based party. |
As Gandi said, "I like your Christ. I don't like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
