Not really. My sister booked a flight a couple of days ago and (first one she could get) it was cancelled today. Her choice was to drive to safety or go home. Tough decision at 4:45 p.m. :(

MickeyG 09-25-2004 08:08 PM

So if you leave, your house can't get flattened?

Listen man, this is the third fucking storm to hit my County in six weeks. I thank God live in a house that can withstand 120 MPH winds and I am only expecting 90 on Sunday, but there are folks that are poor as hell, in a ratty trailer that are losing everything. Goddamn man, I would never wish this shit on anyone. You are posting in the right place....... :321GFY

Ya, I have insurance on my house, my family is safe and I feel secure in my home. I am going to volunteer to help out on some of my off time.

I obviously don't live on the coast, but I've heard hurricane insurance is outrageous... mind giving a little insight into the monthly cost on it?

I'm sure it will go up after this year... I bet a lot of the smaller providers are closing up as well...

I have a 2% Hurricane deductable on the value of my policy. Any Hurricane damage is subject to the deductable. My home is insured for $189,000 so the amount is not something I want to part with. I am inland from the coast. I know alot of the coastal communities their deductable is 5% plus. Which is huge considering that many coastal homes are 1,000,000 plus.
