they're is quite a large group of people who support the legalization of marijuana but in this day and age it just seems like it would never happen NORML has some poll/survey results on there site heres the link

I DO think if everybody who smokes pot in the US voted for Kerry, he'd win.

But...

1. He'd never risk alienating all the people out there who still think pot comes from Satan -- and who'd otherwise vote for him.

and...

2. Pot smokers, whom you'd expect would be the most enthusiastic supporters of such a postion, are either too stoned, too disenfranchised, or to apathetic to actually get up and vote,

OR, they're smart enough to understand that NO president could ever secure the legalization of marijuana in the US by himself -- until MANY OTHER THINGS changed first.

That about summarizes it perfectly. Besides, even if he were inclined toward legalization it's pretty late to start trying to get that message out there. He would be accused of last minute desparation grabbing.:glugglug

He's already lost his campaign, but he's not suicidal also..

Maybe in 2523.. But not now.

EviLGuY 09-25-2004 05:48 PM

Truthfully I think if George Bush would have legalized it, he would win hands down.

Keep all those liberals at home stoned out of their mind when election day rolls around. :thumbsup

BitterPen 09-25-2004 05:49 PM

nope... I don't think it would help him because that is a split issue. :2 cents:

korzon 09-25-2004 05:53 PM

yes

Basic_man 09-25-2004 06:01 PM

The USA isn't ready for this shit ! The Quebec/Canada is ! :thumbsup

Rich 09-25-2004 06:01 PM

Win? No, I don't think so. He has the liberals in a bag, he needs moderates.

CheneyRumsfeld 09-25-2004 07:40 PM

Ladies and gentlemen I give you John "elected by the stoners" Kerry, President of the United States.

yeah right, that would go over real big.

That will never happen. The amount of people against legalization far out number the people for it

scoobydookc 09-25-2004 08:11 PM

Stoners aren't exactly your enthusiastic voters in the first place, as already noted....

But if considered, the slogan might be:

"I want to propose a bill to legalize marijuana, and then veto it"

If it is ever to be legalized, people have to be told the obvious advantages of controlling and taxing the product, and removing the current (not as bad as most) cut-throat blackmarkets created by it.

Goatse 09-25-2004 10:17 PM

Aren't most pot-smokers already voting for Kerry? If anything, a pro-dope stance would scare away the soccer moms and the old geezers who count on Kerry to get their pension checks.

tranza 09-25-2004 10:25 PM

As much as I love pot I think he would lose bro....

:(

SleazyDream 09-25-2004 10:45 PM

it'll be legal in canada first

brizzad 09-25-2004 10:55 PM

im not even registered to vote, but if kerry opted to legalize marijuana, i'd register ASAP to vote for him

How about the hundreds of millions that will not spent every year fighting almost harmless (relatively speaking) drugs? I don't see why you assume only "stoners" would support something like this.

Chris 09-25-2004 11:06 PM

whoever takes a stance to legalize pot will LOSE

to many people DONT want it legalized.
