What camera do you use

What camera do you use for shooting pornmovies?
Would you recommend it?
What did it cost?

robfantasy 09-25-2004 05:13 AM

anything on mini dv is fine

Dirty F 09-25-2004 05:13 AM

Get the vx2000.

Tat2Jr 09-25-2004 05:22 AM

With Mini DV you must get a 3 chip with progressive mode shooting. If you only get a 1 chip mini DV you're footage will suck.

The VX2000 is a great camcorder, or the TRV950 if you want to spend a little less money. Both of those cameras are from Sony. If you're gonna shoot alot be sure to get an extended warenty as they will need to be cleaned/serviced on a regular basis.

The Sony VX2100 is best if you want the best "full auto mode". Also if you are like 90% of content producers and are too stupid to use ligthing then the VX2100 is absolutely the way to go because it is the low light king.

The Panny DVX100A kicks the VX2100's ass in picture quality. Anyone who says different has not seen a side-by-side shootout. But the DVX100A just does not have as good of a full auto mode. Auto focus is slower and auto white balance is not reliable. I also do not think the OIS is not as good in the Panny.

Sony is on it's way out with the new generation of HDV cameras next month so I would wait another month or so to buy that camera.

If you are looking for something cheap then get the new Panny GS400. You can pick one of those up for about $1,200 but might have to wait a week or 2 because everybody wants one. I might get one for times when I need a very small camera.

Thank you for that extensive answer. When it comes to shooting movies I am not a hero so I will go for the full auto mode :)
