AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-25-2004 12:24 AM

There is just something awesome about that girls voice in Cantara, its fucken insane and...

Beautiful.

Ironhorse 09-25-2004 12:27 AM

I have a cool story about this actually. Back in my youth we found an abondoned old theatre, very huge and almost intact except it was partially flooded in the basement and there were some nasty rats roaming about. But we used to like hanging out there and experimenting with psychedelics and of course Dead Can Dance sounded magnificent in this theatre.

One day we were sitting around in the lobby on the velvety carpets and blasting Chant of the Paladin when the Chicago PD decided to do a raid in the theatre, maybe the neighbors complained as we made it into a regular hangout. You can imagine what they must've been thinking, raiding this dark abandoned, multi level theatre and Chant of the Paladin echoing everywhere..

Oh man, I had a fun youth..

i am suprised.. didnt think anyone would like DCD :)

The Host of Seraphim for sure a great track.. one of their bests..

"Persephone" is even a bit better i think :).. well all a matter of taste.

and not to forget "Summonig Of The Muse " which is very nice too..

ah well, you could list alot of DCD tracks .. one of the best bands in that "genre" back their days..

loveful :)

ps.. i am doing dark-wave / gothic music myself.. if anyone is interested let me know :)

Lisa Gerard is still kicking ass, I thought the Gladiator soundtrack was pretty good, and I heard something new just recently, some other movie, maybe Passion of the Christ???

Anyway, post some links..

btw. I'm listening to them now, can't really ever get enough, Persephone is quite deep..

got some live bootlegs here.. one of the very few bands i wish i would have seen live in the 80s...

her live-voice is GREAT.. no doubt.. if anyone is interested i can upload "ocean" for example .. so you can listen to her nice voice..
which means her was never was modulated / edited / harmonized by any pitcher, ptich shifter, auto pitcher etc .. which is great.. she just has a great voice :)

Oh yeah, believe me I'd do anything to repeat the abandoned theatre experience, being 18 and all =) I'm glad I was fortunate enough to have this great music as a backdrop to my mis-adventures :winkwink:

There's a couple good DCD tracks there, I really like what Cocteau Twins contributed: Song to the Siren and Another Day I think, I like both, not sure what DCD added

CET 09-25-2004 02:14 AM

I want Summoning of the Muse played at my mass. I've always thought that song would make a chilling and beautiful requiem. Everytime I think about it I get shivers all over and a little misty eyed.

CET 09-25-2004 02:31 AM

I've got most of their stuff already. Unless you have something highly unusual, there's no need, thanks. :D

Paul Waters 09-25-2004 05:41 AM

They make some of the best scene music.

I know many masters who like to flog their subs while DCD is playing...

:thumbsup
