How long before Google picks up a new site?
 

if I launched and opened it the day after the crawler... will it be listed only a month later?

Anywhere from 1 day to unlimited.

Get a backlink from a PR5 or better and it will happen faster.

If I like the site, I'll do a one month link from a PR4 for $50

Only Google knows for sure and they change the rules often. Its also a matter of luck as googlebot crawls the web. Like I said, the more backlinks the better the chance and the higher the PR the better.

WG prolly knows better than most how it all works. Google also explains how to get listed on your site and the basics on how they work. They don't give away alot of information though on timing or placement.

as for how long.. hmm, depends on ur keywords.. try 3 years for porn and maybe overnight for midgnet anal fucking donkey cumshot horse-a-rama

I linked a new site to one of my PR3s and it was picked up within a couple weeks... It got crawled by slurp and msn alot sooner though.. In fact Inktomi's slurp seems to be coming around my stuff a lot. Maybe because I've got PI on one of the sites down the line??

Your link on a daily crawled PR3-5 site and it'll be indexed within 48h.Deep crawls once a month or less so you got to be patient or buy lots of links.

Ugh, google drives me CRAZY sometimes. I have a new site (opened it on Aug 24) that has a good amount of links from PR 5 and PR 4 sites and Google still has not deep crawled my site. The only page that is listed is the index page.
