where in the world does somebody get off charging $116 to clean a dog's ear? vets are a cartel as are doctors and dentists. check out the price of a root canal in your city and you'll see what I mean.
Vets deserve to make a nice living, they do go through alot of school and training. It's the gouging of good people who are devoted to their pets that pisses me off.

PHD's that do research can white out an error. A Veternarian doesn't get that chance. We're talking about living animals here not research papers.
My sister just finished Veternary Medicine. It cost her over $100,000 for school when all was said and done. It took 8 years, and even though she graduated with a 4.02 GPA from University, she wasn't accepted in to Vet school right away. She could have gone to any med school in Canada or the US, and couldn't get in to vet school. On top of that, she has to pay for continuing eduction each year.
Her starting salary at a reputable Vet clinic here in Canada is right around $70,000.
If you can't figure out that a $5.00 cleaner sold at any pet store will keep your pet's ear's clean and healthy, why should she give you a giant discount to clean the dog's ears for you? And when she has to operate on an Animal you'll expect her to be perfect doing it, but you won't wan to pay anymore money for that. It has to be blended together.
How much of that bill was for the drops? I know the ear drops I've had to use were $30 alone here in Canada.
