What's the best city in Canada to live in?
 

I'm thinking about it spending maybe 6 -12 months just to travel and live in a different city. I've been to Toronto and Montreal and like them both. So I want to know what you all think

Toronto's got my vote........I live here and I love it......Except the winter :)

You should check out Calgary, it's a nice place during the summer.

it is just 40 minutes west of calgary into the mountains..just 15 minutes outside of Banff

I dont like mountains or scenery too much. Im mostly a downtown city boy.

both have diff vibes... both are worth a visit for sure and are only 5hrs drive away...so all good.

What the hell does Canada Look like? almost each major city is a different flavor.... Montreal/Toronto are worlds apart..as would be each to Vancouver, or any city out east.....

Plus downtown Toronto is quite diverse...really depends on where you live to like or dislike it.

On the West Coast so we get California-type weather in the summer, but with the cool ocean breeze that you expect a bit further north it's refreshing.

i live in toronto, and i have to say, the best city, IN THE WORLD, is MONTREAL!!!!

the people, the women, the parties, the women, the drugs, the women, the cafes, the women, the arts, the women.

So, you probably like to rent then, like a downtown apartment, correct? If so, you'll pay very high rents in Toronto or Vancouver. I'm not sure what the rent situation is like in Montreal. Here in Winnipeg you could get a very VERY nice downtown apartment for $700-$800 per month, but more modest yet still decent apartments go for $500 to $700..... and remember, that's Canadian money. Knock off close to 30% to figure out what it would be in US dollars.

For basic cost of living, few larger cities in Canada can match us.

Plus we have the 2nd largest French community in Canada west of Quebec (but no separatists), beautiful river walks along 3 beautiful rivers, close to 700,000 people here so we're not a gi-normous metropolis like some of the others but still big enough to maintain all forms of big-city entertainments and amenities, the most restaurants per-capita of any city in the world, and we have one of the top 10 beaches in the world less than an hour away.

But our winters can be brutal on the unprepared.

Every place no matter where you go has it's longs and shorts.


Oh yeah, and our women are absolutely without a doubt hot hot hot. There are an incredible % of hot women here. Must be something in the water.

While it may be a "nice place", it still remains a compromise choice on so many objective criteria when compared to Vancouver.

That and we're right by the ocean, it never snows, and there's wildlife all around for camping.
