An electronic bracelet strapped on the ankle used to track DUI offenders
DUI Law Allows Authorities to Track, Rehab Drunk Drivers
A new law that went into effect in Ohio today opens the door to a new way for authorities to track and rehabilitate drunk drivers. The law increases penalties for repeat offenders and allows authorities to monitor them 24 hours a day. One local police department is looking into taking advantage of it. Warren County is considering the SCRAM system, which can detect if a person has been drinking. An electronic bracelet strapped on the ankle can measure alcohol through a person's sweat. Nine Ohio counties already use the device. Officers say it's a big help.
