How do I get from Whistler to Anchorage?

So, I'm planning my trip to USA and Canada, and I can't find my way from Whistler, Canada to Anchorage Alaska.
The only way I can see is to fly from Vancouver back to Seattle, then to Alaska. Surely there is a train or bus that will get me there, but all the bus companies only offer tours.. Like round trips going around the place.

Little help:(

Bus it to Vancouver and take a ferry to Victoria and then another ferry from there to Seattle.

See, I would have already come from Seattle on the way to Vancouver and Whistler, so I though instead of backtracking to the USA again, I thought I could head straight up. I want to avoid travelling by air while there, because you miss so much of the landscape and scenery.

Actually, I looked at a cruise. But I only have a few days, and the cruises take a while. PLUS my mate is with me, and I would cop a lot of shit from my mates for going on an Alaskan cruise with another dude, LOL.
It might be a bit faggy for us, LOL. Not to mention the $$$$

I might just have to not go up there:(

There arent any planes that fly from Vancouver?..fastest way is to drive to seattle and fly from there.. its a bitch to drive and will take 3 days to get there ..its supposed to be a beautiful drive scenery wise.

Yeah.. I know I can get a Greyhound bus north to Whitehorse but that's as close as I can get on a Greyhound. I've got a 'CanAm' Greyhound bus pass organized, so I can go anywhere in Canada or USA on a Greyhound bus (as long as ther is an available seat).
This is a tough one. Should I just get a bus to Whitehorse and try and find the rest of the way to Anchorage from there??

Might just ditch thge whole idea and snowboard an extra 3 or 4 days at Whistler, LOL

There are no trains from CA to Anchorage, I don't know about buses but its a LONG ride and it would really suck on a bus.
You could drive to Bellingham, WA and get on a ferry to Seward or Homer and drive to Anchorage. As far as I know there are no ferries that dock in Anchorage. The drive from Seward is 2 hours and 4 from Homer.

I live in Anchorage, let me know if you need any tips :)

Thanks for the info.. How long is it from Whitehorse?
I think it all looks a bit difficult. I think either I'll fly in, or not worry about it. I'd love to get up there though.... Oh well, can't win 'em all

About 700 miles. Don't do it, seriously! There are tons of flights from Vancouver to Anchorage, I think they mostly stop in Seattle though. When are you going to be travelling?

Yeah, you're right. I'll just fly.
I'm going for a month in February.. Snowboarding trip, hehehe:Graucho
Flying into LA, and Flying out of Vancouver 1 month later... Cool huh:thumbsup

Can't you just fly from Vancouver to Anchorage?

Kassidy 09-23-2004 11:37 PM

That's a loooooong drive that I wouldn't want to take in the dead of winter up there. Definitely fly, even if you have to go through Seattle. The flight from Van to Seattle is only like 45 minutes or something...

Oh, and have fun while you're up here!
