looking to buy a cheap laptop
 

I'm in the market for a cheap laptop -- preferably under $1500...

Anyone have suggestions?

I went to Best Buy and only the HP's really impressed me -- solid construction w/ those rubber corners, I prefer the touch pad to the point stick... and the keyboard on the HP was nice...

It's not very big, but it's perfect for going anywhere. It's really small.

Fry's has a kickass little 3 lb Sony with 600mhz celeron and 11.3 SVGA tft for $999 after $100 mfr rebate.

Go for it.

For the cheapest I suggest you buy stolen. No warranty but you get a lot for your money.

I just bought a Sony Vaio PCG-FX240. It's a beauty! PIII 800MHz, CD-RW/DVD ROM, 128MB and 14.1 TFT.

It costs $1850. But for only $1500 you can get the FX220 with has a smaller processor and only DVD.

Go with DELL as well. They have BOTH a pointer and touch pad. My gf has one.

The SR33 that lensman likes is COOL too. It's tiny though. So if you've got small hands and don't mind looking at a 10" screen and don't mind having to carry an external cd rom, go for it!
