When you tell someone to email you at hotmail or yahoo chances are at one point in time they had such an account themselves - and they know the drill and how it works.

Gmail is the next hotmail.

Rochard @ hotmail and yahoo dot com were both taken. And now Rochard @ gmail dot com is taken - by myself.

It's a chance for me to get the email address I wanted at web based email that will become as popular as hotmail.

so what if its taken? add a couple of letter and thats it!

I have 3.95 accounts with 1 gig, unlimited accounts, etc ... with your own domain... I just don't get this Gmail thing...

i think gmail will be changed anyway.. they will make money out of it

Gmail is pretty cool with it's label, spam control, and grouping of messages like threads. It's really fast too. And with 1gb who needs Outlook. You can always use your domain and forward all e-mail to your gmail account then reply as [email protected]

Well it does have targeted ads like adwords in your search results. Yet they are far from annoying.

Reasons I like it.
1. Like everything google makes, it is very clean and not cluttered in the least.
2. The storage is very nice.
3. The spam filter has been kicking serious ass.
4. It is accessable from any pc connected anywhere.
5. It is annonymous so it works well with services like paypal.
6. It is not bound to my server, so if my server goes down I can still retrieve important emails.
7. I can store files I may need or want while on the road.

yeh that and the great interface it has!
