I don't understand all the fuss over Ibill

if its true that they are going under, is this really a surprize to people in this biz?
Shit, I knew there'd only be "the big two" a year and a half ago and I'm not even affected by it.
you people who it *will* affect, you really didn't know?
should you even be running a business?

FuqALot 09-22-2004 11:04 AM

you must be really stupid if you still use ibill. where there is a 12, there is a click, ya dig.

stocktrader23 09-22-2004 11:06 AM

Don't use Ibill, don't send traffic to anyone that does. Just don't want to see anyone have problems as it affects many of us regardless.

Michael O 09-22-2004 11:08 AM

Amazing people still uses IBill after what have happened in the last 12-18 months

CDSmith 09-22-2004 12:39 PM

I didn't care for what went down with I-bill a few years ago. A large exodus of sponsors had to switch processors back then and move away from I-bill due to certain policy changes and other issues. It was a huge headache, a nightmare for many, and a pain in the ass for thousands of affiliates of those programs. I was one of them, and I don't forget easily.

Lately I-bill's banner atop this very board has said "We've changed, and we want you back"...... I know several that jumped at that right away. I however, am more of a "wait and see how they do" kind of guy.

I'm glad I followed my instincts.

And no, there's no real surprise here. Some concern for the overall industry, (as in some, not a ton) but no surprise. Smart people know enough to expect this kind of shit and know how to see where it might possibly happen in such cases.

Rich 09-22-2004 12:51 PM

Not a huge shock to me, but I'd love to see where you predicted this a year and a half ago.

What the fuck are you going to do when they put an end to scumware? What's the next step down from there, is there one? You'll have to move to bestiality or cp to become any more of a lowlife than you are with the scumware.

hahaha. i have been thinking the same thing.

They are a company built on spam and processing questionable and often illegal sites. People got burned hard when RBL blacklisted them. People lost all their 900 money. etc etc etc

Why people used them is beyond me. The idea that anyone who has been around for a while they put their company in a position that they are actually important to their business is crazy.

The fact that people are panicked and talking about the end of the world is comical. Oh well. I would like to see the heard get thinned a little anyway.

body 09-22-2004 01:08 PM

I thought verotel will die?

Tuna 09-22-2004 01:16 PM

i always figured if someone would go it would be them. it doesnt surprise me at all.

I don't use them anymore but it's still going to be bad for this industry to lose one of our remaining three billers. :2 cents:

Steve 09-22-2004 01:28 PM

Been hearing they were a goner for over a year now. Looks like I might finally get one of those "I told you so!" calls now.

Not that I use them myself. Just sucks for those that do.

Been hearing a lot of bad things in 2nd term Bush, I'm sure it will all come true.

First term was excellent.

PornGeneral 09-22-2004 01:45 PM

When the company was sold over and over again. It is was not a good sign.

get your own merchant account... or find a new job.

bad for who? if there were no IPSP's this business would be better off for real business people.

Mr Dickovitch 09-22-2004 02:07 PM

You assholes can gloat all you want, but your billing companies will be next. Keep being so happy there are only 2 companies left. In 6 months there will be one and in 9 months zero. I hope you'll keep laughing then.

Who's laughing? I'm not. More competition is always better than less, unless you happen to be one of the few players in whatever feild. More competition serves to keep prices reasonable and companies more honest, both of which I am all for.

To my way of thinking the death of a big processor leaves an opening of opportunity for another. In fact, to take it a step farther with the concept of more competition, I would love to see a company or group of companies join forces and start up a new credit card alltogether... call it the "Netcard" or something, and make it 100% adult AND mainstream friendly. One geared for internet shoppers and surfers, but it could be used for any purchases anywhere. I believe there is a huge demand for such a card in the world right now.

That's what I'd like to see. Doubt it will happen of course, but fuck anybody who tries to tell me I can't wish for it. :D

Jace 09-22-2004 02:31 PM

it doesn't suprise me one bit, but I know some friends of mine will be scrambling soon, if not already

MickeyG 09-22-2004 02:34 PM

it's the loss of my rebills that will hurt most.

I would also like to see that, I thought that maybe it would be the credit cards to pull out first and force the billing guys to find another solution. If there was no cards then we would all still be on a leval playing field.

I have 3 offshore merchant accounts, but I disagree. Some of my largest sponsors use a 3rd party. Also, that would mean the end to single girl sites not sponsored by a big program, which can be crazy money makers if you find the right one. Not to mention we'd have to worry about individual programs loosing their merch accounts which will start happening all the time. Programs don't have the capability to fight and negotiate with Visa and MC as well as the IPSPs. As bad as things are, they're only going to get worse if we lose them. :2 cents:

doober 09-22-2004 02:44 PM

this thread is extremely condescending

:2 cents:

baddog 09-22-2004 02:47 PM

guess I could mention that iBill has been approaching the company in my sig for alternate solutions . . . so no huge surprise

I'm not laughing. I use a few recurring sponsors that run with iBill, so if they go down, I can kiss that goodbye. I was just saying that this was a rumor for so long, I was begining to think they were going to pull thru.

Ben.Z 09-22-2004 02:51 PM

It's nice not having any 3rd party CC risk.:D

Diversify you payment options guys! Take a look.

shermo 09-22-2004 02:51 PM

I never doubted this would happen, but I know many people who this is going to hurt. I have kept all of my money away from IBill since day 1 because I never had a good feeling about them. I don't know if it was a hunch or a lack of "like" for their stat interface, but there was always something that made me shy away.

Good luck to all who have a lot of money with IBill as your processor. Also, good luck to the great people that are working over there.

Verotel has one big luck! They are located in Europe. With the sites they are processing for(a few questionable) they would be already down in US.

Nathan 09-22-2004 03:24 PM

I am not here to defend anyone. but I have this stupid question. WHY does everyone say that ibill is already dead? They are not dead, not at all actually. They just have to switch banks, and that fast. Plenty of companies had to switch banks, and plenty have had major problems. I remember a bunch of shit happening to Epoch a few years ago. And they are still around, and stronger than ever.

So everyone stop with your "the sky is falling" bullshit and WAIT for a real statement from ibill. iBill is not a tiny company, they are not going to let themself get killed this easily.

I just picked this thread to post my msg since it happened to be the first ibill one I saw of the 63423 ones on the board... :)

Also, if you have read 12clicks full post, he makes it very clear that he thought this is logical to happen, even if it does not happen right now.

Brujah 09-22-2004 04:40 PM

Who are these sponsors that " should not be in business ? "

scardog 09-22-2004 04:52 PM

So let me get this straight. If the First Data had allowed them to process until November 15th, Ibill would be fine now? All you guy that said they would go under somehow knew First Data would take this position?

those too dumb to see the future when someone like me saw it a year and a half ago.
what relationships did I cultivate for fun that others should have cultivated for their business?

you see, there really ARE a lot of stupid people still running businesses here. every misstep they make takes down honest people who trusted them. Its only rocket science for the Richs of the world.

Ibill's obituary may be a little premature.

If Ibill goes down the other 2 will raise there stupid fees, best to have more then a few - most of you are dumb asses.

Just think is ccbill was the only only one left?

visa fee = $2000.00

proccessing fee = 20%

the reverse for more 3rd parties.

scardog 09-22-2004 07:05 PM

They are not down yet.

Heres the news:

Due to our dispute with First Data Corp, iBill has now moved our US business away from First Data.

During the transition, we temporarily operated in stand-in processing from noon to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Please be advised that we are no longer doing stand-in processing.

All US credit card transactions that occurred during stand-in processing, including scheduled rebills, will be visible in CMI starting tomorrow, Thursday, September 23, 2004. Going forward, new sales will appear in CMI as usual.

Thank you for your continued patience and support, we greatly appreciate your business and look forward to our continued relationship.

I think the real issue with all Ibill haters like 12clicks is a complex that Ibill unlike other third party billers never come to boards with chit-chat crap talking to everyone like they are best friends or whatever.

:D
I know some of You people must feel extra cool cause CEO's of big third party billers let You feel some of their coolnes. Joke is - they are making money on You when they do it and in my point of view it's a bit of a cheat trick.

There is no NEED for an IPSP to hang out on forums. They are in different business.

Because outside of real professionalism which Ibill used to have alone for years and years , there is nothing else there to discuss.
They had their faults. All of them third party billers did.

And they didnt cry in forums "FUCK YOU ! MY NAME IS KIMMY! YOU VIOLATE CROSS BORDER!" or call simple webmasters idiots just cause they dont know the game yet.

So relax a bit.
