i remember Autson being one of the first low cost hosts at $2 a gig. i tried them out.

it was like 5 when i started lol

but sign ups were so easy to get back in the day. throw up a shitty link to some cookie cutter site and you convert 1:100. ahh the good old days

Dude back then you could use 250kb files and get listed everywhere in less than 48 hours. No partner accounts BS, very little competition and ratios were damn good.

The first domain I ever purchased I hosted through PacBell. The domain name cost 30 bucks, hosting 28 bucks a month for 50 mb's of disk space and 500 mb's of bw. It was 9 bucks a gig after that. Yikes!

first host was "free".. but I later painfully found out only the first gig was... the rest were $10 a piece...

a tough lesson to learn after you're first PK listing pulls 80 gigs or so in 2 days.
