If Cliff Burton was Still Alive Metallica Would Still Be Good!!!

I just saw Metallica again and i have to say they are a pathetic joke for a metal band .I cant believe this is the same band i saw back in the day when cliff was still alive. I guess everything has to change, just didnt expect a band that was all about drinking, and partying to all of a sudden become corporate and BORING!!!!

Metallica stopped being metal after the black album. Basically, they changed their style of music to try and sell more records to today's younger generation. They dont care about their old fans because their old fans have already bought their records, shirts, etc. The way they see it, new fans are where the money is at.

chipmunk 09-22-2004 07:55 AM

I saw them last for the Black Album Tour! 4th Row! It kicked some serious ASS! Actually I wound up catching James's drinking cup..l
That was a big deal in 91!..lol

Now they just blow! :321GFY

Im curious to hear how the new Megadeth Album is... Anyone listen?

Dirty F 09-22-2004 07:58 AM

Bunch of crybabies. Do you know any band that didnt change in 20 years? Bands change. People dont think the same as they did 20 years ago and they dont make the same music as 20 years ago.

This is true Battus... however there are certain bands that change thru the time and I still like...like Pink Floyd. Old Floyd and New Floyd are very different yet.. I enjoy both very much, unlike Metallica!

Metallica no longer has any characteristics about their music I enjoy.

New Megadeth is awesome, solid metal riffs, and good Mustaine solos.

Get it, it will restore your faith in Metal

gxer 09-22-2004 09:21 AM

If Cliff Burton was Still Alive Metallica Would Still Be Good!!!

absolutely agree.

There is to many examples how people
can stay long on the scene and make
good albums.
Pink Floyd is a good example, i'd add
a few like Alice Cooper, Rolling Stones and more ...
Metallica was great till 86' , but it's only my oppinion.

Magnus 09-22-2004 09:28 AM

They suck so much ass right now they should just be a boy band.

pfft.

Go buy the second release (As The Palaces Burn) and the newest release (Ashes of the Wake) from Lamb of God.

Now there my restoration in faith for metal.

ALSO: Check out this video from their first release....technically "banned" from mainstream media outlets (MTV/MTV2 etc.)

11th Hour Video (Streaming from their site, quick download)

SKULL 09-22-2004 09:47 AM

If Cliff was alive, he would have left Metallica after "And Justice For All" :)

SC Blaize 09-22-2004 09:48 AM

And Justice... was there last good recording. Anything after that sucked!

Although i would hae liked to see them still doing the original shit, you have to look at it this way..

Metallica makes music, you make webpages..

Metallica had a million super happy fans, they traded this for 50 million super happy fans and 1 million pissed off fans..

If your webpage had a million super happy hits a day and someone told you how to make that into 10 million hits a day , but some of them wouldn't be as happy as before, would you care ??

You know damn well you would go where the money goes

schiz 09-22-2004 10:46 AM

I saw them last month. I thought the older stuff sounded good. Hetfield tried too hard to be everybody's friend though.

Maybe in some alternate universe, (ANESTHESIA) - PULLING TEETH was one of the hardest bass tracks i ever learned, how many bassists had that kind of speed with their fingers and not a pic? Not many i can assure you

boneprone 09-22-2004 11:24 AM

Yep they sold out...

Every fucking night they tour..

They sell out.

The are what everyband wishes to be.

Dude this was some funny shit.... kewl :thumbsup

SykkBoy 09-22-2004 12:31 PM

the new Megadeth is fucking awesome, some of the best stuff Mustaine has done in a long time...maybe the time off and threat to his ever playing again paid off...I feel Countdown To Extinction was their masterpiece but Youthanasia was total garbage and everything after that was just a little "off", so it's good to see Mustaine going back to that Peace Sells vibe......

Hard to beleive it's only 4 days from the 16th Anniversary of Cliff's death......

Im so old i saw metallica play Lamours in Brooklyn . Shit im old :disgust

Furious_Male 09-22-2004 01:00 PM

Fuck Metallica. Ive seen them a handful of times through the years but ever since they got super greedy and lead the attack against free music swapping and tried to sue over the fucking Echord rhythm guitar sound they've sickened me.

The fucks forgot if it wasnt for bootleg tapes back when they were just working there greedy asses out of the garage scene they wouldnt be where they are today.

Of course they suck now. It has nothing to do with age. Thats a bullshit excuse. They got away from who they are and went commercial.

evildick 09-22-2004 01:38 PM

I bought tickets for their show in Toronto on October 6, and now I hear they are playing in London at the John Labatt Centre. Fuckers. I wish they would have announced this earlier so it could have saved me a 3 1/2 hour drive.

warlock5 09-22-2004 01:47 PM

If you want to hear a real metal band check out Iced Earth.

AcidMax 09-22-2004 01:50 PM

I honestly don't see Cliff being with the modern day Metallica at all. If he didn't die I think he would have left the band long ago. I think he is more along the lines of a Dave Mustaine who loves the music more than anything else.

I would see Cliff doing Metallica covers or having his own band with him in charge that didn't hit the mainstream. Just my :2 cents:

BTW Check out Dead Horse if you are looking for some killer drums and guitars. You can get their album online at emusic.com its called "Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers".

Really good.

Project-Shadow 09-22-2004 01:59 PM

The new Megadeth album is seriously bangin.
Best thing to come out in a while, although Dream Evil is pretty sweet.

http://www.chronixradio.com ... knock yourself out =D

AcidMax 09-22-2004 02:09 PM

Yeah you can hear some of the latest Megadeth tracks on shiz.fm as well. Check the sig :)

The new Megadeth fuckin' ROCKS! http://www.thedarkembrace.com/iB_htm.../guitarist.gif

I think my favorite song off of that album is Back In The Day. :thumbsup

MeniJennaCash 09-22-2004 02:47 PM

I think the last great album was and justice...
the black album made me cry, they sold out
oh well

xclusive 09-22-2004 02:56 PM

It's sad really the pure rock power the posses yet fail to use. It's like having a 12" cock and not being able to get it up. Metalica needs viagra...

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-22-2004 07:24 PM

he funny thing is if Metallica jut stayed the course with the Metal sound they would have gottin that younger generation.

They folded on Metal entirelly which of course was a stupid move.

What annoys me is when people don't like a band because they are 'commercialised' I couldn't give a flying fuck, If I enjoy there music I will listen to them regardless if they are the most commercialised band in the history of music.
I saw metallica twice last year and they were awesome (even if St Anger does suck)
