About John Zuccarini and cybersquatting.

Hey all,

A search for the name John Zuccarini gives me a few reults here on GFY, but i was wondering, has anyone of you ever decided to file a complaint against him?

I checked the list of his +/- 8000 domains, and there's a lot of domains on it that a few of you would like to have.

"A complaint" would be an understatement. Congress made new laws just for him. He's serving something like a five year sentence in federal prison.

arg, didnt he get like 18 months and was already out of jail ??

i could be way off tho...

I think she means complaint in terms of WIPO to get one of the domains back.

Not a bad idea if you have some claim to the domain, since he can hardly mount a defence from prison.

Some of his names already expired and were registered by others.

Yes that's what I mean :)

I checked some of the cases against him and saw that he lost about 85% of them. So it should be easy the get those domains tranfered.

I was hoping that the domains I want would expire pretty soon, but one of them has been renewed on 2004-07-20. The news about him being in prison are from before that, like April. So the domains don't just expire while Johnny's in prison.

From what I know he's in prison now and that's one of the reasons his domains are expriring.

Just googled, he got a 2.5 year sentence, back in February 2004, so I reckon he's still incarcerated. His FTC "conviction" was in mid-2002, but that was just a civil penalty, $1.8 million...I gather he didn't pay it and went into hiding until his eventual arrest. His domains are still expiring regularly, some have fetched five figures on pool.com.

Well if you have a legitimate claim to the domain why not. If it's a really good name and you have a very good case, why not wait for someone to pay thousands on the secondary market and then take it away via UDRP :)

hrm are you suggesting taking it to UDRP even if you don't have a good claim on the name, and thinking you'll win because there's little chance he'll answer the complaint..

hrmm cunning :)

Correct, and some are even owned by people posting in this thread.

He had a few of mine too.

Where can we see his domains list?

List is more than a year old, so may not be very up to date anymore.
