He's been on the security watch list because of ties if I remember correctly to Hamas...I'll see if I can dig up some links..but he's not welcome in Israel..they say they have evidence of him taking money and funnelling it into terrorist organizations.

CAT STEVENS DENIED ENTRY

A transatlantic flight was diverted and the singer Cat Stevens escorted off the plane by FBI agents who denied him entry to the US, it has emerged.

Security sources said the pop star, who converted to Islam, was on a security "watch list".

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said the singer was denied access to the US "on national security grounds" and would be returned to Britain on Wednesday.

Flight 919 from London to Washington diverted 600 miles to Bangor International Airport on Tuesday, landing at around 7.30pm British time, after US security officials were told Stevens was aboard.

cat stevens is a cool guy and I listened to his music growing up - I can understand why some here havent heard of him (he doesnt rap) - but is a classic singer songwriter during my teen years.

so now its come to this - same happened with Hoover in charge of CIA - they named everyone including John Lennon as a threat to USA

But this is the stuff that irks me. "Oooh he was a great singer/songwriter when I was a kid. He is a cool guy. I have always loved him. He is sooo talented."

Well, guess what? When I was a kid Michael Jackson was the best singer/songwriter. What the fuck does that have to do with anything TODAY? And how do you know he is a cool guy?

BTW, I kinda like Cat's music, so that has nothing to do with it.

firstly, I don't know why but it always shocks me when people don't know names like his. He has a beautiful voice and has done some fantastic songs that everyone should know. I'm 27 so it is hardly like I am old enough to actually remember, it is just being culturaly aware.

Secondly, as liberal as I am it doesn't bother me that he was denied entry. His views are very well known and his activies are uncertain enough.
