More on My Model that was Killed Saturday at Age 24

Here's more about the girl from this thread. The other thread was getting too cluttered with political discussion, so I wanted to start a new one.

Here's the news story:

http://www.chicoer.com/Stories/0,141...416014,00.html

Here's her personal site. She was a very cool person. She did her site by herself, and manually coded the HTML:

Chico woman dies in head-on crash

By GREG WELTER - Staff Writer

A woman from Chico was killed early Saturday morning after a 17-year-old male, allegedly driving while intoxicated, lost control of his pickup on Highway 99 and slammed head-on into her vehicle.

According to a California Highway Patrol report, Andrea Marie Spessard, 24, was killed instantly.

The teenager, whose name was not released because of his age, was driving north on Highway 99 at 3:42 a.m. when, according to witnesses, he drifted into the opposing lane and struck Spessard's 1983 Ford Thunderbird.

The crash occurred south of Rowles Road, just north of the border between Tehama and Butte counties.

Motorists behind the teen-ager told investigators he had been swerving all over the road.

The male, a resident of Sheridan in Placer County, was transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment of abrasions and a broken right ankle. He was then arrested and booked into Tehama County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence.

The teen wasn't wearing a seat belt. The victim was. The accident remains under investigation.

loverboy 09-21-2004 11:41 AM

fucking teenagers :BangBang:

just another sad story :(

pornJester 09-21-2004 11:43 AM

The reckless drunk drivers always live, not even wearing a seatbelt.

stev0 09-21-2004 11:43 AM

shitty news man, im sorry to hear that.

Mutt 09-21-2004 11:44 AM

throw him in jail for minimum 10 years without parole - no license to drive ever.

some mistakes aren't forgiveable. he killed somebody, they can call it 'vehicular manslaughter' - but it's murder.

Jeezuz H Krist on a cracker, I hope they fry the little fucker for this.

In an ideal un-ironic world, the drunken idiot would be mangled and killed and his victim would get off with a broken ankle and minor abrasions.

Unreal.

SmokeyTheBear 09-21-2004 11:46 AM

Especially sucks , because she was doing everything right..

She was weraing her seatbelt , meanwhile the idiot gets a sprained ankle for driving drunk with no seatbelt..

Girls can be just as bad. My GF's roommate last year blew a red light plastered and smashed into two cars. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Better to be in front of the computer and drunk than behind the wheel of a 3000 lb death machine careening through neighborhoods.

very fucking sad story :(

btw, that geocities already reached its bandwidth limits

Mutt 09-21-2004 11:52 AM

a driver's license isn't a right it's a privilege - for those under 21, license should come with an agreement that ONE DWI conviction is all you get - one and you're done. wanna drive - move to another country.

Screaming 09-21-2004 11:53 AM

what a waste of a talented girl, teenagers need to learn to control themselves and understand that them doing does not only effect them

Manowar 09-21-2004 11:58 AM

that sucks :(

Tracy 09-21-2004 12:01 PM

This is going to sound cold but do you know how many KIDS get killed by drunk drivers? I mean come on, you don't see threads about them. They could have had a chance to BE SOMETHING not just some girl who does porn.

I emailed GeoCities. Hopefully someone will raise the bandwidth. I offered to pay for it.

In the meantime, I still have the index page in my cache. Here's what the index page looked like:

Not just some girl who does porn, huh? Some of us see this as a BUSINESS, that is just as legit as many others. Just as the Hollywood Entertainment Industry is in the business of ENTERTAINING people, so are we.

I have emailed Geocities in an attempt to do something about her bandwidth cap. If her site is able to be brought back up I'd challenge you to read it and see what a beautiful person she was inside.

Rob 09-21-2004 12:07 PM

Very sad news. I still find it amazing that the drunks that drive recklessly and crash into people somehow always survive yet the innocent ones die. Irony in the most macabre form.

Prayers to her friends and family.

Cindy was senselessly mutilated and killed by a hit and run drunk driver. She was just two months away from her 10th birthday, and her life was taken from her, and from us. Cindy was a very bright, active little girl with a love for life. She always made me laugh. The 20-year anniversary of her death is coming up in just two short weeks, and it just doesn't seem possible that she would be turning 30 this coming November, when she didn't live to see 10. The man who killed her was sentenced to a psychiatric unit for a short while and was awarded with time served for his jail sentence

Tracy 09-21-2004 12:14 PM

Did you know...

In 2002, an estimated 17,419 people died in alcohol?related traffic crashes?an average of one every 30 minutes. These deaths constitute 41 percent of the 42,815 total traffic fatalities. (NHTSA, 2003)

Incidence of intoxication (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) for drivers in fatal crashes in 2003 was highest for motorcycle operators (29 percent) and lowest for drivers of large trucks (1 percent). The incidence of intoxication for drivers of light trucks and passenger car drivers was the same (22 percent). (NHTSA, 2004)

Of the general driving age public, 97 percent see drinking and driving as a threat to their personal safety, and 66 percent feel it is extremely important to do something to reduce the problem in terms of where tax dollars should be spent. (Gallup Organization, 2003)

About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives. (NHTSA, 2001)

In 2001, more than half a million people were injured in crashes where police reported that alcohol was present ? an average of one person injured approximately every 2 minutes. (Blincoe, Seay et al., 2002)

The highest prevalence of both binge and heavy drinking in 2000 was for young adults aged 18 to 25, with the peak rate occurring at age 21. (SAMHSA, 2000)

Impairment is not determined by the type of drink, but rather by the amount of alcohol ingested over a specific period of time. (IIHS, June 2003)

Alcohol is closely linked with violence. About 40 percent of all crimes (violent and non-violent) are committed under the influence of alcohol. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1998)

Alcohol is society's legal, oldest and most popular drug. (Narcotic Educational Foundation of America, 2002)

Beer is the drink most commonly consumed by people stopped for alcohol-impaired driving or involved in alcohol-related crashes. (IIHS, 2003)

Alcohol-related fatalities are caused primarily by the consumption of beer (80 percent) followed by liquor/wine at 20 percent. (Runge, 2002)

Those drivers 21 to 24 years old were most likely to be intoxicated (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) in fatal crashes in 2003. Thirty-two percent of drivers 21 to 24 years old involved in fatal crashes were intoxicated, followed by ages 25 to 34 (27 percent) and 35 to 44 (24 percent). (NHTSA, 2004)

The impact of alcohol involvement increases with injury severity. Alcohol-involved crashes accounted for 10 percent of property damage only crash costs, 21 percent of nonfatal injury crashes; and 46 percent of fatal injury crash costs. (NHTSA, 2002)

The intoxication rate (those over .08 BAC) for male drivers involved in fatal crashes was 25 percent, compared with 12 percent for female drivers. (NHTSA, 2003)

The average person metabolizes alcohol at the rate of about one drink per hour. Only time will sober a person up. Drinking strong coffee, exercising or taking a cold shower will not help. (Michigan State University, 2002)

For fatal crashes occurring from midnight to 3:00 a.m., 79 percent involved alcohol. (NHTSA, 2001)

Drunk driving is the nation?s most frequently committed violent crime, killing someone every 30 minutes. (NHTSA, 2003)

Those drivers over the age of 70 were least likely to be intoxicated (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) in fatal crashes in 2003 ? only five percent were intoxicated. (NHTSA, 2004)

The rate of alcohol involvement in fatal crashes is more than 3 times as high at night as during the day (61 percent vs. 18 percent). For all crashes, the alcohol involvement rate is 5 times as high at night (16 percent vs. 3 percent). (NHTSA, 2004)

The speed of alcohol absorption affects the rate at which one becomes drunk. Unlike foods, alcohol does not have to be slowly digested. As a person drinks faster than the alcohol can be eliminated, the drug accumulates in the body, resulting in higher and higher levels of alcohol in the blood. (Narcotic Education Foundation of America, 2002)

A standard drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits, all of which contain the same amount of alcohol (NHTSA, 2002)

In 2002, motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause of death for people from 2 to 33 years old. (NHTSA, 2003)

In 2003, 30 percent of all fatal crashes during the week were alcohol-related, compared to 53 percent on weekends. For all crashes, the alcohol involvement rate was 5 percent during the week and 12 percent during the weekend. (NHTSA, 2004)

There is evidence that heavier drinkers prefer to drink at bars and other person's homes, and at multiple locations requiring longer driver distances. Young drivers have been found to prefer drinking at private parties, while older, more educated drivers prefer bars and taverns. (NHTSA, 2001)

Binge drinking has been defined as at least five drinks in a row for men and four drinks in a row for women. (Wechsler et al, 2002)

Where do you get that idea? Please post where I even INSINUATED that I don't care about kids getting killed.

If your mother died of cancer I wouldn't show up at her memorial and start spouting off about how many kids die of cancer, and then accuse you of not caring about kids when you get mad at me for interrupting your mother's memorial service.

Man, fuck you. Does her profession make her any less of a person? From what everyone has said she was a good person.

If you are able to judge someone for being in this profession like that then what the hell are you doing here?

NinjaSteve 09-21-2004 01:04 PM

I'm sorry to hear about this loss. Death due to a drunk driver is never good. :(

GatorB 09-21-2004 01:06 PM

Yeah a drunk 17 year old killed Sam Kenison too. teenagers should be allowed drivers licenses until they are 18. Statistics show that 16 and 17 year old cause more crashes than any age group until you get to 80+ year olds. If kids under 18 weren't allowed to drive isurance rates would be at least 15% less for everyone.

I hope this kid goes to prison and gets anal raped and contracts AIDS.

M_M 09-21-2004 01:07 PM

She might have been alive now if it wasnt a pickup truck the kid was driving.

Plan9 09-21-2004 01:09 PM

Some drunken college bitch smashed into me and another car back in June...drunk driving really does start to anger you more when your life is affected by it.
Plus, she fucking totalled my new M3 :321GFY Although if I wasnt in such a well made car I think I would've been hurt MUCH worse.

My best friend in high school was burned to death in her car as a result of a drunk driver going the wrong way down the highway.

It's a horrible thing to have happen, sorry to hear about another loss of an innocent life. There needs to be a much tougher penalty for drunk drivers.

Well said Donovan this is a profession that some of us take extremely seriously. Just because a young woman takes off her clothes it doesn't make her any less of a person. My sympathy is with the relatives and friends she left behind i am sure they are the ones who need our prayers now.
