SP2 mandatory compliance dates have been pushed back to 2007. :thumbsup
|
I'm Downloading it right now...It's at 72%, should I stop??
|
I've put it on one machine with no problems. Haven't installed it on any others yet.
One thing I heard is that the install does NOT like it when IE is not your default browser and outlook express is not your default mail. Before installing I would highly recommend setting these to default and restoring your alternates afterwards. |
SP2 totally fucked up my ICQ and aol, fucking shit crashes all the time and icq isn't even usable. Fucking download windows popup when i try and open the msg window. I tried turning off the firewall, no go.
|
I have not yet physically met a person that was able to make SP2 function flawlessly. It seems to kill every ciomputer it touches.
On a good note you can recover you computer if you simply REINSTALL THE FUCKING OS and then put SP2 on before any of your software. For now I will deny any attempt by microsoft to install SP2 and just use mozilla. |

I don't get why so many people keep eagerly installing this first fucked up version of SP2. Why? 1 out 3 people seem to be having problems with it. Those are shit odds to gamble with.

good thing I haven't installed it :glugglug

I had to, on my new computer... because if I wanted to have the windows movie maker 2 upgrade, it required the sp2. There was no way around it.
Don't seem to have any problems, other than any javascript item (even simple things, like swap image or font on html) it keeps popping up a warning, and I have been unable to default the warning thing off. |
I have sp2 on my computer and it's works great. No problem at all :thumbsup
|
SP2 is awesome.
If your head is up your ass, don't blame the software. |
SP2 works fine for me on my laptop and PC.
|

I waited until it was a part of Windows Update, just installed it yesterday. Only issues I have are cosmetic or unimportant. It first prompted me that Outlook Express was not my default mail client, even though clicking a mailto link brought up Outlook Express. My shortcuts to OE were gone on both the Quick Launch and Start Menu (actually on the Start Menu it was an invalid shortcut). Also gone from Quick Launch were the shortcuts for IE and Show Desktop. I've replaced the Show Desktop previously by doing a search for "desktop" from the Start Menu but don't seem to be able to locate it this time. I was able to replace the OE and IE shortcuts by going into their program folders.
The only other thing (that I've noticed so far) is that I have an extra "connection" icon in the system tray with the :warning icon over it. When moused over it says: Local Area Connection Speed: 10.0 Mbps Status: :Limited or no connectivity The other connection icon properly shows my DSL connection and the sent/received amounts when moused over. I haven't noticed any loss in online speed. |
I haven't had any problems so far with SP2.

I installed it on my desktop and one of my laptops, I thought I might need one system set for the rest of the world so I can play around with my popup scripts. One thing I noticed my explorer bar crashes when I go into mix media directory using the filemanager, probably a media file is crashing it or something, don't ask me why they tied these two things together, but I can't go into that one directory and look at stuff. Its a pain.
I suggest guys don't upgrade. Oh and also, popups are messed up in this version, even clicked popups are not even recognized in IE; in microsoft's eyes all popups are bad. You don't know how much I hate microsoft right now. |
No way I'm putting that shit on my computer.

quick uninstall

Indeed. I'm glad I decided to wait a few days after it came out before installing it, I had a feeling people would have problems. Its hardly worth the download, and from what I hear there are already security loopholes being exploited.
Way to go Micro$oft - way to go. |

I don't understand webmasters who refuse to use IE and the OS most of their surfers will be using. You've got to have one machine that shows what your pages look like to most of your audience even if you have a second machine set up with all of your preferences/alternative browsers.:2 cents:

Its ok here:glugglug
